find a complete bolt in 12 bolt or 9" for 1600......HAHAHAHAHAHA you will not find one new, 1600 is a complete bolt in rearend.. It is lighter than a 12 bolt or 9", more effiecient than both and as strong or stronger than the 12 bolt. But you will never find a 12 or 9 for under ABOUT 2100, or atleast i have never seen one not new.
I may have just broke my rear, and am definately in the field to get a stronger one. Can you send me an email or pm with some info on where I can get this done? I'm in Deerfield Beach, FL. Also, is it really as strong as a Moser 12-bolt? Cause I have never heard of a Moser 12-bolt breaking, and if i'm gonna upgrade, I want something that's bullet proof and will not need to be replaced again. Thanks.
Well, i don't want to start any wars, but i feel both sides of the arguement, yes the 8.8 is a cheaper alternative, if you know the guy doing it, and you are close to him, but if you logically look at the situation, for the normal individual, i would rather spend 600 more bucks, since your already deep into your pockets anyways. Spend 600 more to get a tried and tested part from a reputable manufacturer, that can be held liable for warranty issues, instead of chasing down some guy that buit the rears himself, and no matter how good the guy is, unless he is at moser/strange/currie, using precise tooling and machinery, his tolerancies will not be as close as the rears from the bigger companies, and why not just spend the 2,200 and get a 9 inch, yeah the rob more power, but there are companies that actually off lifetime...yes...LIFETIME warranties on there 9 inch rears.
Just my thoughts, but until this 8.8 has been around for a couple of years on fast F-bodies, i'll probably just save for an extra month to get a 9 inch/12 bolt.

You CAN build a 9" for $1600 (I can show you how, if you're interested). Let us know how the fabricated torque arm mount and pieced together 8.8 this and 10 bolt that hybrid holds up to a few 1.3 and 1.4 60fts. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /> The reason that most people upgrade to a 9" or a 12 bolt is to have a rearend that is more durable than the POS stocker. IMO, while the internals of an 8.8 are stronger than those of the 7.5, the case of a modded, welded, pieced together 8.8 will not IMO, hold up to the type of abuse that a 1.3 60ft @ 3500lbs can dish out. Spend the extra money ($100-$600 depending on options), and get a rearend that will last. Again, let us know how it works after it is installed, and after it has survived a few 1.30s and 1.40s.

fair enough.....
But he does use the high tech equipment, the equipment he is using to manufacture these rearend is valued at over 250 thousand dollars, this is custom jigs he has made. The tolerances are perfect.
Yeah a 9" is great for a drag car, but gas mileage, rearwheel power, and weight matter to those of us looking for an allaround car. And a 9" is not that.
The only part that comes from the camaros is the axle and that is only if you want it that way, if you want 33 spline axles so be it. You can build this a butch as you want posi, locker, spool whatever.
Great you can build a less efficient heavier rearend out of used parts for the same money. It is a used housing with all new internals. The housing is checked by cpu to see if there is any damage. New Gear of your choice, new posi of your choice, and anything else you want. All new internals for the same as used???? I know i like trusting in new stuff.
