Default Lockup Trouble..

Ok..just took a couple hour trip to the track with my newly built 4L60E with a 3600 Converter. The car has been tuned, but we didnt mess much with any converter stuff because it was shifting fine, and I liked the speeds that it locked up at. But now after this trip (usually it is an in town car under without much OD use)...Going 60-70mph with it in OD it will lock-up, but only "somewhat". What I mean by this is that it will cycle in and out and feel like its slipping in and out of lockup at cruise with very minimal throttle....BUT if I roll into the gas while its trying to lock...it will positively lock up and hold. So the lockup isnt slipping, but at very low throttle, it wont lock solid. It will however lock fine in 3rd. Sorry for the longwinded post. Just trying to explain. What do I need to do?...

Sounds like a tuning issue, Since once you roll in slightly it locks. Im no tuner so you should speak with one of them but you should raise the duty cycle for lockup and change the setting for when its drops in and out to a wider range. Small diameter converter need so tweeking for lockup. More so if PWM is used. Theres also a sticky about converter and trans at top of the forum for more information.

My Yank SS3600 does the same thing. It happens even when I am cruising in town. I have been told it is a tuning issue. Most of the people that have serious lock up issues have no lock up at all. I have not gotten my car tuned yet so hopefully it can be tuned out, but I am confident it will be taken care of.

Good luck with it guys, I think you will be fine. Tuning really is a requirement for many vehicles after a stall to get anything to work right and for durability.

yea I should have done it when I did the stall but was limited on funds and was told I would be OK but it wouldn't shift "perfect" and it would shift a little early when going slow and hesitate at WOT but drove great on the HWY and would shift into OD until yesterday and it's been in for almost 2 months now?
