SS4000 would work better w/ spray.

i think if you kept it to a 100shot then it should be fine... you might blow through it a little though.

Is the SS series the better for spray?

Yank says to stay away from the PT series if you're gonna spray. I love my PT4400, but if I still had my SS4000 spray would be my next mod!

I spray a 200 on an SS4000. I had to bump my window and rev limiter from where it was at with my ss3600. I shift at 6800 with no problems on the SS4000 and a 200. I originally had the shifts at 6500 and window at 6600 but I had some "blowing through" the window. I now run the window to 7000 and limiter at 7200. It works great.

BE PREPARED TO HANG THE F*CK ON!!!!

better than the PT yes.

the PT series converter has got to be one of the best max effort n/a converters for a 4l60e/ls1 combo.

i would think a 100 shot or less would be fine... but you'd probably not see as much of a gain as if you sprayed a 100 shot on an SS converter.

I wonder what's the main difference? whats the difference between a 500rwhp N/A motor and a 500rwp nitrous motor? besides the torque?

Yank would have the best answer for that.

If you have a PT4000 and 500rwhp, then you're already gonna be blowing through it (probably sitting on the rev limiter) The 4000 stall speed is calculated on a stock Ls1 application. The more power you make the bigger the stall is gonna loosen up, no matter how you make the power.

ok does this rule still apply if you had a 400rwhp car?

Nitrous often produces much more torque as the full spray is available at lower rpms. For example, a NA motor may make 500 HP at 6500 but peak torque of 450 ft-lbs @ 4800. A nitrous motor could make the same peak HP but 550 ft-lbs @ 4800.

A PT 4000 is going to work fine a cam or heads & cam car. It pushes through a bit due to the extra power, but most cammed cars make peak HP and torque at higher rpms than stock, so the combination works fine. The extra shift extension leaves the motor closer to peak HP.

The PT series is built with much more shift extension than the SS series because it was built as a motor converter. The SS is tighter and allows you to spray without blowing through it.

How come no one run's the py3600 since it's made for spray that way you dont have to worry about blowing through it

It's the one i have,I plan on spraying a 200

It is a good converter for 150+ shot. Most people find it a bit tight for NA use if they are mostly going NA with just some spray here or there. It also works nicely behind a stroker motor or mild FI applications.
