Default Problems with VIG 3200..

Has anyone had problems with their VIG 3200 shredding internally. My car would not go into gear after I got home from the track, so I took the transmission apart to see what was wrong. When I opened it up I found metal shavins through out the tranny. Little coils, and some really fine shavings. I inspected the rest of the tranny and found absoulutely nothing wrong with it. I beleive the metal shaving came from the torque converter, but I am not sure. I think the metal shavings plugged the valve body, and that is why my car would not go into gear. Since then I have put the original TC back in reassembled the tranny and have not had any problems. Has anyone else experienced this problem. What should I do to check the VIG?

Chad,
I would call Terry at Precision. He's a great guy and I'm sure that he'd help you out. There's nothing that you can do with the converter without cutting it open.
Take Care,
Kevin

I thought the vig3200 was one of the most reliable 'verters out there. I really never hear of issues with them.

How many miles are on yours? Any major N2O/boost use?

Thanks for the help guys!

Just give precision a call and talk to Terry. I've never heard on one coming apart like that. We put about 40,000 miles on the one we had in my wife's TA, and we bought it used and now it's in another car still going strong. Sorry to hear that and hope you find the source. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="gr_sad.gif" />
