Yank SS4000 and MS4, good match?
I am pretty much a full bolt on car, FAST 90/90 and MT ET's. This winter I am looking to do an MS4 and Yank SS4000. I was wondering if the stall and cam will be good compliments of one another and also what times I should be looking for when I finally get back to the track next year with this setup. Thanks guys.

Depends on your goals. If you are gonna spray it later, then the SS4000 is a great choice. If you have no plans for spray, do yourself a huge favor and get a PT series converter. I swapped my SS4000 for the PT4400 and it was night and day difference. It was faster everywhere, significantly so from a roll. The SS4000 was a great DD converter in that it was tight for city driving, but I was never really impressed with how my car felt from a roll. That changed drastically when I put the PT4400 in. I will never own another converter now. It is loose as hell for city driving, but I'm sporting 3.23's still. Hopefully a new rear end with 4.10's will be coming soon. PT's rock like no other!

its hard to say what times you would run... ive seen people on here with .7 seconds taken off. i went with the yank ss 3600 and i wish i would have went bigger. i can hardly tell i even have one in the car until i punch it. i say yank ss 4000

You're current times are spot on with my times when I was full exhaust/lid only on street tires. 1.9X's and 12.9 at 107 MPH. I added the SS4000 and a tune and went 1.7X's and 12.5 at 108 MPH on Nitto DR's (really didn't hook that well). Added TR230/224, LS6 intake, UD pulley, FLT Lvl 4 and PT4400 and ran the times in my sig. I know I've got some more left in the car, but that should give you an idea as to what I gained with specific mods. You will easily see 11's.

Hell, I have an SS3800 and you make me want a PT4400! And I don't have any reservations with my decision.

Yanks are nice... When bought my car new in 99 that was one of the first things i did is Long tubes... aTR220 and a Yank SY3500. Coupled with my 323's, my car even then was a mild beast!! I loved that Tq Converter...
Now, almost 8 years later.. thousands of $$$$..., a G5X3, full bolt on's and a Precision Industries (Vig)3600... Brother... i can't say that i miss the old Yank...
That being said... If i opted to upgrade again, i would probably go with a PT4000.. My friend has one in his T/A.. and it is a very fun car indeed..
You can't go wrong with either one! Great choice, keep us posted.

for a stock tranny you could definately afford a cheeper converter .. the tranny will bottle neck before the converter does ...
basically if your gonna go n20 then id save for a new tranny 1st and get the n20 converter if not then the n\a converter with the higher stall speed is good .... ruel of thumb is 4000 is the absolute max you wanna go on a stall with the size cam and spray but if you go without spray you can go to a 4400
im currently running a ms3 and a midwest 3800-4000 stall n20 converter with a built flt tranny
before that i had a tci ssf 3500 converter ..... both seem pretty similar

I wouldn't mind a small commision for any sales I might have been involved with . The truth is, I've had such great success with Yank converters that I like to spread the word as much as I can. And yes, I'm a huge fan of the PT4400. Man, get one and don't look back. It is an absolute beast. It's the single best mod I've done to my car without a doubt.

Look at the Stock Internal list in the Drag Racing Results page. Out of the 50 people on there, 75-80% of them are running Yanks, including myself. That has to tell you something right there as well. TCI doesn't stand behind their product any more than another company. They sell **** converters that are poorly made and mass produced to save a buck, but in the end, costs the customer more money.

2 of my buddies had tci converters in their camaros and both of their trans went to **** less than a month after installed by a shop.... thats when i decided to look in another direction and went with yank and i absolutely love their converter but i wish i would have went bigger something like a 4000 but my vote is yank all the way
