I got everything in fine and went to go move and then i started to hear a clicking sound. it doesnt make the sound in park but it makes it right when i shift into reverse and only when im moving in drive. Its a loud clicking sound. any suggestions? tranny has just been rebuilt.

Well any sort of a noise is extremely difficult to diagnose over the web. But I'll give it a shot.

What does it sound like when you start the engine?

Have you checked your work?

Are the wheels up in the air? If so how is the car supported?

Does it have a firm engagement or not?

I suspect that you have an aluminum driveshaft, it could be the driveshaft itself.

its on all four wheels. sound like it is coming from tranny, so i dont think it is drive shaft. also, it is making the noise with engine rpms, not movement of vehicle. But only makes the noise while moving in drive. reverse-starts maiking noise right when i put it in.

Sound slike maybe a verter/flywheel bolt?

You say it happends when reverse and neutral then you say it happends with RPM speed but not in neutral?

So, in park and giving it RPM's it doe not happend? Or only when you are in gear and giving it gas and getting speed?

I would look at converter bolts, The force applied by the converter increases with and increase in line, Reverse presure is allways higher and the line presure increases with rpm in OD again increasing forward thrust on the flexplate by the converter. So thats the area I would look at, The fact it makes the noise seting still brake applied in reverse more or less eliminates anything inside the trans since nothing would be moving inside the trans,
So converter/converter bolts/flexplate Is where I would be looking.

Line would be low in park and neutral which would lend support to my idea, I have also seen this occur when the thust bearing in the engine is excessivly worn allowing the crank to travel to far

Did you locktite the converter bolts? Did you tighten them yourself?

The point behind all the questions is, it can easily be a cracked flexplate. Did you inspect it thoroughly during the R&R?

OK got the problem fixed. the torque converter bolts did have locktite and i tightened them down a little bit more. I dont think that was the problem though. the noise i think was just the flywheel and TC cover hitting something. very dumb problem but easy to fix. thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Out of curiosity, did you use the same bolts for the verter/flyhweel?
