Default Tranny cooler...

I put in my 3400 stall Midwest last week, and I am hoping to get my cooler in put in a couple weeks. I was wondering, what can I do to make life easier on my transmission in the meantime?

I really think you shouldn't wait that long to put the cooler in. I ordered mine from Thunder Racing and it was at my door within a week. It is not very expensive and is definitely something you should do.

The only other thing you can do to make life easier is to get Red Line synthetic oil, and/or add a deeper fluid pan.

I HIGHLY recommend you get the cooler ASAP though.

Get a deeper pan (anything from the deeper GM truck pan to an aftermarket B&M pan with cooling fins and the like), get the trans cooler, set your fans to come on sooner (more airflow across the cooler), and change the fluid often!!

Great to hear you got your converter installed! Did you do it yourself? Until you get a cooler I would try to stay away from alot of stop-and-go driving and keep it out of the hills.

Yep got it installed, my friend Davin and I did it.

The only thing I'm waiting on is finding a place with jackstands and the proper tools, as I had to come back to Fort Collins and live in an apartment. I know I need it, just wondering if anyone had some tips on keeping heat down.

Hell, I put my cooler in without lifting it at all. I wouldn't do it again that way though as it was tough getting eveything tightened below. If you have the cooler and want to slap it in this weekend, give me a shout. I have all the tools you would need and a couple of jackstands too.

Cool man, it hasn't come yet, but I'll give you a hollar when I do. I'm considering going racing tonight at Bandimere, how stupid do you guys think that is without a cooler? It'll be all nice and locked up all the way down I-25 then getting an hour break between passes!

I think you'll be okay. Just take it easy with the burnout (worthless on street tires anyway) and the brake stalling. Good luck!
