Most bang for the buck converter?

Most bang for the buck converter? Im looking for the best converter for the buck. Looking for equivalent performance and efficiency as the more expensive brands do, with a reasonable price for poorer guys like me who have to settle for the cheaper brands. 
I really cant afford a $1000 converter, much less if I could, I dont see myself buying one either. (unless I wiped my butt with money!) :p Anyhow, Im looking for one that performs just as well as the more expensive ones, but looking to paying around half of what they go for. I know of a few that are in the $500-$600 range, but I want to know out of those, which one is more consistent, more popular for obvious reasons, and have the least problems. Customer satisfaction is something else that I look for to go with the converter.

I have the midwest 3000 stall 2.5 str and while it is a great piece and it changed my car's personality greatly I would have waited and save my money for a yank or vig. I dont know about TCI so I cant speak for that brand.
I saw my converter compared to a yank and it was about twice as big in size with less stall. Just the wieght of it looked like a factor.
I cant talk track times becuase I a am a drag racing newbie and have only cut 1.8's but I think it is me and not the verter. I have to get my tire pressure right and my stall in the right spot.
Putting in a stall is not like swapping an air filter so I say while you are doin it..... DO it right.

Re: Most bang for the buck converter? Vig. 3200 to 3600 or a Yank. I have had the vig. 3200 (great for street and stripe) and now I used the Yank 4200. I would get the proven brand which has been around. Can't comment on the other cheaper brands--have no experience with them.

Re: Most bang for the buck converter? So far the ones that I know for sure that are in my price range are TCI and TCS. Im sure there is others, but these 2 seem to come up the most. Are there other ones out there that are in the price range that Im looking for? Really...I dont have a set amount for a converter, I just know that I dont want to spend $1000 or somewhat close to it. Im just looking for one that a lot people have been getting excellent results from, with no problems, and great custom support to go with it, but is at a reasonable price. Im looking for one that will put out the equivalent performance, efficiency, and durability that all the other bigger converter companies do. Thanks

Re: Most bang for the buck converter? 11.82 with an internally stock engine on Nittos in a FULL weight car here. The converter? A TCI 3500. The converter has 11,000 miles on it now. Works flawlessly. I couldn't be happier with it.

Re: Most bang for the buck converter? The Colonel officially know some stuff! Most people pick up between .5-.6 with a TCI 242932 converter...it has 3500 stall speed and a 2.5:1 STR...excellent efficieny too. If you ever decide to go to N2O it works pretty well.

Out of TCS and TCI, what distincts them from one another? Which one is more efficient, durable, proven, stronger, and puts down the better track numbers? How much of a difference is it going to make between a 2.5 and a 2.6 STR? Thanks

Re: Most bang for the buck converter? The Street Stalker version is the "budget" converter and I was looking into getting the Phoenix. However, the Phoenix is just as expensive as the Vigilantes! I thought that the converters were going to be in the price range of $500 to $600. I think they are $699! Do you think that I should pay a little more and get the best? Isnt Yank the best of the best? How much does a Yank cost? Im not sure which style I would need, but Im looking for a strip/street version, most likely a 3800 with a 2.5 str. I dont plan to use nitrous, but it may be a possibility down the road. If the TCS converters compare to the Yanks, how does the TCIs compare to the both of them? I know theyre a lot cheaper, but as far as efficiency, performance, durability, etc. does it offer that as some of the more expensive brands or TCS? Thanks
