Impossible to say. The converter wasn't the only mod made between track trips but it's been my experience that a good converter actually helps trap speeds.

I went from running 12.68@107.64 to running 11.82@113.12 from one track trip to the next but there were several changes so it's impossible to say what did what. A 6 MPH increase with NO internal modifications or serious weight reduction is alot. It was a combination of...

Going from a 2400 stall to a 3500 stall.
Underdrive pully.
Headers/no cats.
Exhaust cuttout.
Better weather.
LS1Edit. Changes shift points, raised timing, deleted TQ management.

Take your pick as to what did what. My guess is this converter is good for about 2 MPH over the stock converter.

Leanna, Leo didn't mean that changing the converter raised the idle speed. It won't. You have to do that through programming.

For an A4 I recommend doing the underdrive crankshaft pulley but not the alternator pully. I never had any problems with my fairly big sound system in my '00 when I used to run it with an underdrive pulley. If you found that the charging wasn't enough for you then you could either raise the idle speed or install an alternator overdrive pulley.

Yeah i knew he raised idle i just hadn't actually thought of that, so... if i add a cam and bump my idle up to 1000 it'll offset it anyway eh?

I have seen people get confused about that one before.

Stock, an A4 idles at about 550 (it may vary according to year) in gear. Underdrive it %25 and it's like idleing at only 412.5 RPM. So, raising the idle to 687.5 would get it back to stock as far as the alternator is concerned. 1000 would be way more than enough. The idle out of gear is 650 so adding %25 gives us 812.5.

I just looked at the 4 runs I Autotapped last time at the track and the WORST shift extentions between all four runs were...

4738-1/2 shift
4879-2/3 shift

This was with the shift points set at 6300 on the 1-2 and 6200 on the 2-3.

Yes I did. It's always hard to say for sure if something helps traction much since track prep varies so much but I did pull some 1.61 60 ft times on drag radials last time out. This was FULL weight and with the front swaybar intact.
