Default what converter and gears do i need?

My best 1/8th time is 9.019 at 81.114 mph 60' was 2.101 best with the mods listed below. I know the car is capable of much better times with a converter and gears. It's not a everyday driver for me so i'm not worried about that. I was thinking a 3600 with 4.10 gears. Any suggestions on brand or if that combo is right?

if its not a Daily driver then and all your looking for is 1/8 mile times then the skys the limit, 4200-4400 YTP will net great times. As for the 4.10s you might think of beefing up the rear or buying a 12-bolt or 9in first.

What i really want is good 1/4 mile times. i just ran the 1/8 mile to see what i'm doing at the 60'. The nearest 1/4 mile track is alot farther away and the 1/8 mile is 10 min away. What do you think would be the best for the 1/4 mile? 3200-3600?

How hard core do you want to get?

A Yank YTP 4400 or TCS 4200 stall and nittos will have you pulling 1.6s with your stock gears. 3.73s would help a bit (assuming you have traction) and 4.10s would be better if you plan to run a larger diameter tire like 26.x11.5x16 ET Streets.

Will a 4200 to 4400 be to much in the 1/4? I was thinking about a 3600-3800

Most of the fastest LS1 cars run 4000 - 4400 true stall.

I wouldnt go any any lower than 3.73's on an auto car. Every TC is different.... like my VIG 3600 actually stalls around 4000... that with some 3.42 or 3.73's and traction you will be hitting some low 12's

Do not get 4.10s if you are going to spray a stock cam & valvetrain motor without tall tires. You will run out of rpm in 3rd gear.

Leave your gears alone. install the vig & NOS and see how you do first.

Next time, post all the the info up front.
You had already made up your mind and ordered stuff, so let people know that.
Second, Nitrous makes a HUGE difference in what is optimal. Do not hold back key facts about mods that can make a difference in determining what is right.

Sorry to go off topic here, but this happens occasionally and is not fair to the members that take time to answer questions that are really moot or lead to bad advice. Hopefully others will read this and incorporate into their future postings.

I did not order the parts untill yesterday afternooon, and had othe postings with people telling me to get 4.10s and a 4000-4400 tc. And i did not know about what the nos did so there is no way i could have done anything different. But now i know and wont do it again.

I agree with Ragtop, try the converter first and leave the gears alone for now.

if you must get a gear get a 3.73 as rag top said you WILL run out of gear in the 1/4 with a 4.10.
