Default Which cooler for trans?

Which cooler do you think would be a better cooler

http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

or

http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

my friends keep saying to get the one with the fan but everywhere i read people only put on just the regular cooler whats neat is the one with the fan comes with a thermostat which means no switches in my car (this is a must).
But will it fit in my car?

btw its a 2001 camaro just ordered ls2 402 with 3600 stall converter still using the stock 4l60e with minor parts soon to be 4l80e

Its depends on what your needs are and what you can afford, Its true most people just use the stand alone cooler and thats plenty adequate, I think its mostly in your case a matterof what you want and can afford since from looking either would serve the purpose.

The b&m w/fan is overpriced IMO. Here are a few others to think about, all with fans that have more cfm than the b&m.

Well, we only have a limited amount of space to mount trans coolers in the 4th gen F-body. The trans builders here where it gets horribly hot in the summer, (Las Vegas) just use the B&M 24,000 GVW rated coolers mounted up front where the air can get to them. During summer, lots of racers drain their cooling systems and run pure distilled water. IMO you really don't need a fan on your trans cooler unless you spend a lot of time parked and idling. Not sure how much good a fan does on a trans cooler even then.

{Off Topic}
One reason for the water only, is the drag strip here mandates that no 'race car" (without plates and insurance) that is trailered to the track can use any kind of coolant / aniti-freeze / water wetter / Just plain water. This is because of the number of boil overs they have to clean up, and water makes it much quicker and safer.

I run a Perma Cool with a 900 cfm fan on it. Nothing less would do for me!

For what it's worth, going with a TH400 conversion here. Using this tranny cooler from Thunder Racing:
Racing Transmission Cooler
29,200 GVW
29,200 BTU
11'' x 11'' x 1-1/2''
This is a size that will fit a 4th gen and not need a fan.

Here is a link to it at Jegs.
