Default Flexplate swap ... any noteworthy difference?

Blew up something ... maybe a tranny seal ... maybe cracked stock flexplate ... goes in for tranny diagnostics tomorrow. Taking the opportunity to swap in a TCI flex plate (11lbs?) over the stocker (21 lbs) ... will the 10 lbs less rotating mass do anything noticeable for my 60'/ET times?

I just took out a cracked stock flexplate and it is nowhere near that. The stock flywheel in a M6 is 21 lbs I think. The shipping weight on my TCI was 8lbs and the stocker is noticeably lighter. I doubt the extra weight will affect your 60 foot times.

Yeah, my bad ... was looking at the M6 flywheel weight ... not the A4 flexplate weight. Anybody know the weight of the stock LS1 vs TCI SFI flexplate?

The stock one is VERY light, maybe 5 lbs if that.

tci one is heavier than the stock...being thicker and stronger that just makes sense...

Weight reduction is the goal this year. Once I break 10's, cog drive D1SC w/ 8-rib kit will go on next Spring. DAMN!!! This **** is expensive! Flexplate is prob overdue at this point ... just hope my tranny is $400-$800 to get fixed ... not $1,500-$2,000.00 worst case.

TCI flexplate, at least, will be done.

You can't be adding much weight by going with a heavy duty flexplate. The TCI one only weights 8 lbs, so you will only be adding 3 or 4 lbs max.

So, I have decided to attach a YANK Pro Thruster 4000 ... upgrade from the SS3600 ... bet that'll get it movin'! LOL!

On a serious note, it's being installed this week and I'm pretty exicted about the swap.

You get a better chance of keepin your feet intact with a TCI flex plate, that in it self is a noteworthy difference

You know ... I was looking at the damage to the old stock flexplate ... thinking exactly the same thing. Thanks for your thoughts on that. It makes me feeel better that this thing isn't going to come apart again. This damn thing is gonna' cost me $2,500.00 when it's said-and-done ... man, and all over 3 converter bolts. From now on, I'm taking the time to inspect the bolts everytime I get under the car.
