Default Where to get GOOD tranny parts!!!

Now, before you say just get a level 4 tranny from so and so I just want to know where to get good clutches, bands, ECT.... Can't afford to get the race tranny yet. My tranny has burned out the 3-4 twice in less than 2 months. Maybe it's the tranny shop, maybe it's the parts. Who and where can I order the best parts from?

I cant really answer your question but I have a few questions for you.

Do you have a trans cooler?
Do you hotlap the car a lot?
Do trans temps get pretty high?
Do you beat on the car in third a lot?
Does the car see a lot of WOT 3-4 shifts?

Yes.

No(Haven't been to the track since JAN.)

Come live down here 103+ weather.

Funny you should ask, the guy that fixed the tranny said for me to drive it in 3rd around town. The last time he fixed it ,he increased the line pressure and now it shifts hard(would that screw up the PCM on the tunning done to the tranny?).

No, I don't rag out the car.

I assume he means drive it around in third inestead of 4'th. Increased line pressure should help longetivity.. it decreases the time the clutches are used and slip time thus creating less heat and less wear and tear due to slippage.. <i think>..

www.transmissioncenter.net

Get the blue plate clutches, billet acumulators, Raybestos band (with new drum, the RB band is wider), "The Beast" reaction shell, TransGo kit, and you should do OK. Not quite a full race trans but a LOT better than the stock crap. Talk to the guys at Transmission Center when you order the parts and mabey they can help make a few more inexpensive suggestions.

Well that's all up to your level of self confidance. For $25 they also sell the service manual

Personally I'd reccomend having someone who has done a trans or two around for your first time, or at least read the hell out of the book before putting a wrench to the front pump. There are a few special tools you will need and I'd suggest getting the case and valvebody tanked so any trapped junk doesn't wind up in the new setup.
