Default trans pan leak...againnnnnn!!!

so i mentioned earlier that i installed a shift kit. everything went relatively smooth. i put the pan back on no problem. each quart of fluid i put in, i check to make sure there were no leaks. once i pour in the third quart, there is a severe leak on the driver side of the pan, i guess i could further describe it as the side where the shift connector bolts into the pan. I replaced the gasket because the cork gasket had a tear in it. nothing, still leaking. anyone have any idea wat the hell the problem could be?

The lip around your pan my not be completely flat. Sometimes they get a little wave in them, that you have to flatten out.(when the pan is off the trans of coarse)

+1 on the pan not being flat. The area where the cable bracket is more than likely distorted.

I went with an aluminum pan for the leak elimination, it also acts as a girdle strengthening the case from torsional twist when you are launching hard, and adds atf capacity for better cooling.

$275 to install a trans pan? Is that for the tow, pan and labor? Sounds a little high.

did you use gasket sealer with the new gasket? did you remove all the old traces of cork gasket? i use the sealer on both sides of the new gasket. not a lot but enough. no leaks.

Default problem solved

i wish it was 275! the car was on warranty and they stil dint cover it cuz i told them "i saw a leak so i tried to fix it myself" between ordering an aftermarket pan, getting a new gasket, fluid, and labor, it totaled to a lil over 400. It was a pain in the *** but they looked at the pan and said it was reallly week around the bolt holes, how that could be i dont know but the problem is fixed now. Funny thing, the guy starts calling me speed racer, i ask him why?...he goes, "did you put a shift kit in your car?" and i laughed asking him how the hell he knew, he said "you did a dam good job installing it, it drives beautifully! ad sounds like a mean bitch too!" so i laughed so now whenever i need a job to be done, hes gonna take care of it, ANYTHING. cant wait for them to install the gears and stall, thatll be a nice treat!

end of the story, problem solved. To those who mentioned a bent pan, you were right, they used a little sealant as well to tighten it al up. Thanks guys!

Talking

My BTE pan was $120.00 to the door. It takes about an hour to install, 60-70.00. 6 quarts to fill, filter and gasket. Under $230.00 total.
