Running with stock tranny?

ok i have a 97 z28 with a few mods like lt4 cam and heads with P&P intake, moroso intake, headers, 3.73's, slp lm2, tune which i think they had the shift point raised and firmed it up and a few other small thing here and there and i was wondering if you guys think it would be ok to run my car at the track the transmission is completely stock and stock tq converter? let me know what you think thanks.....

One can never say when a trans might die but I see no reason why you shouldn't theres risk every time you floor the car at a stop light or pass someone. I would if thats what you want to do.

when i get into it i dont let it rev all the way out i usually let up about 5 grand because im worried about the tranny

i used to rev my 4L65 to 6500 every day for 7 months and it blew the pump and the 3-4 clutch out. trans guy at the dealer said the low roller had some heavy damage to it as well. lol. 11k miles on the trans is all it lasted. did a ton of burnouts too, i mean 20-30 second ones, without a trans cooler. so I'd say they can handle a really good amount of abuse, provided you are starting out with a fresh trans. if its old i would drive it easy and wait until it goes b/c im sure it will.

You'll be fine to beat on it. Do you have a cooler? Excessive heat and extremely high rev's kill the trans quick.

What's a normal temp for our trannies to operate at?

I have seen mine go as high as 100 degress C one time. But most of the time it is less than 80 degrees C.
