Default Yank SS 4000 results, new PB

Mods in signature. The only change made was from a Vigilante 2800 to a Yank SS 4000. Still have stock trans and stock 3.46 gears.

Vigilante 2800- Best ET 11.64@ 119, 1.64 60ft., 400ft da, shift extention 4500-4700 rpm, stall 3500.

Yank 4000- Best ET 11.55@ 114, 1.53 60ft., 2400ft da, shift extention 5500rpm, stall approx 4800.

Keep in mind that I ran a tenth quicker with way higher da. I like the way the Yank feels off the starting line, doesn't hit as hard as I thought is was going to. I say that as a positive as it doesn't feel like a parts breaker. On the street it is definitely looser than the Vigilante but easily driveable and the higher shift extention makes the car feel quicker on the street. I don't know if I would have Yank 4000 in a daily driver, but you could. I think with a 400ft da the Yank setup should run 11.35-11.40. I'll have to wait a couple of months to find out.

Are you running NOS? The SS series seems to be more for that. In a NA application the PT series a better choice. Congrats on the times. Vince

I asked the people at Yank and they thought the SS would be right converter for me. They also thought the SS would be better on the street.

My Vigilante felt like it hit harder. My race weight is 3550. Don't get the wrong impression. I love the Yank SS. The car should be 2 to 3 tenths faster with the same air. Actually your posts were one of the reasons I went with this converter.

^^^ That is an indication of how bad the air was. Trap speed roughly shows HP. So his HP was way down with the air (DA) and his ET's got better. Combine better air (more HP) with the Yank SS and he will have good times and mph.

Agreed. I was shocked to run this well in bad air. I went 119 with 400 ft DA

I love the SS-series from Yank. I have a 3800 and my brother had a 4000. He ran 12.2s in bad/hot air with intake and full exhaust with 3.73s. I'm sure that car would've done better in good fall air, not to mention it was a full weight (car was 3625 lbs. without him in it.) I'm getting closer to him; I've had some tuning issues that he didn't have.

Yank ROCKs!!!

+1. I've been street driving the car this week and have adjusted to it. It's very driveable.
