Default 4L80E in fbody WITHOUT BFH to tunnel

Why can't we move the main electrical plug to the pan? Has anyone tried this? Is the internal harness not long enough?

Wondered and asked this same question, but no responses. Maybe you'll get some.

I would think putting the connector "below the water line" is
not a great idea. But what about extending the harness inside,
and making a seal-block for a smaller wire bundle to come out
in the original plug location, maybe at the point furthest from
the tunnel sheet metal?

I briefly spoke with Carl Rossler about the clearance problem. We discussed moving the plug to the pan. I think he said he would check to see if the harness length allows relocation, and if it did, he could check with Moroso for a custom pan.

We also discussed moving the connector inside the trani but he didn't seem too enthused. (I'm not sure why, maybe there isn't room inside.) But if only a bundle of wires came out the side, it would most likely be enough clearance to avoid BFHing the tunnel.

....What kind of material would "permanently" fill in around the wires? Maybe a big wad of epoxy?

I'm still on this. Carl has been very busy but he said he'd look into it and call me back. Stay tuned....

why cant you just hammer the tunnel? it is only an fbody. you would spend a ton of time and money relocating the wires.

A real man would use a shape charge. BOOM! All done.

Seriously, I figure if there's a way to gain some slack in the harness so that the plug can reach the just below in the pan, a bulkhead could be installed in the pan by Moroso or somebody and we'd be all set. Not a lot of work...just a custom pan.

I'm really not freaking out over this. My car is all marked up and ready for the hammer/cutting/welding. I just thought if there's a simple, clean solution, why not?

Frank, thanks for looking into this.

Speaking of harness... what wires in a 99 pcm need to be swapped around from an 02 80E pigtail?
