Why the rebuild?
You hook up your factory speed sensor to the rear plug i believe, new speartech wiring harness has one that goes in front.

I bought the trans as a core, and I'm a 6-speed (M6) ,and Ive had fun with it, but now its time to get down to business. The engine is getting to big and powerful for a stock M6. And i want to be consistent with my runs. and will be starting my LS3 434cid this spring. And im getting tiered of all the shifting and clutch work.

Would it be a good idea to find a set of 5 pinion planetaries instead of the factory 4, do i need to change the drum and all or just the planets then self.

Seeing how it's a 2004 model year it may already have them, especially if it came from behind an 8.1

No, I tore it down and it has the 4 pinion, I read that the 4L85E is the only ones that came with the 5 pinion with the 8.1L engine.

I took the trans apart and noticed that the center support is not the right one for the 04 models . The end were it supposed to be machine down .040" (recessed)for the thrust bearing ,Its not , its flat. But it bolted up in the case . What is wrong here ,is there mismatched parts in this tranny !!!

Im going with a manual valve body with a vacuum modulator to control the pump pressure

i dont even think the trans would work without a filter since it kinda acts as the inlet to the pump. Atleast thats what i thought.
