We have been testing converters in the Pontiac G8 and the Corvette, both with the 6L80. So we will be ready when they are released.

No need to wait as they're available now from Yank. I've had an SS 3600 in my 07 Corvette (which also has the 6L80 trans) for a few months now and absolutely love it. It's still extremely streetable (some people haven't even been able to tell that I had one in the car) and to date I've picked up over 3/10ths in the quarter and managed a 1.569 60ft time on worn out MT Street ET Radials.

If you're curious about how it drives, I did a virtual test drive a few weeks back and also ran my fastest time ever of 11.155 last Wednesday night (despite only making 410 rwhp).

The test drive:

The Corvette does have the 6L80, but it is different than the G8 torque converter. Different heights and different bolt pattern. I would assume the Camaro will have the same converter the G8 has. The Corvette is different because it uses the rear mount and has a unique flex-plate.

The only difference is the bolt pattern. Other than that, the internals are all the same and the converters that are already being used in the G8 now will be a direct fit for the Camaro.

So basically, my original statement that a converter is already available is still true.

You can count on Yank, Vig and Circle D among others to produce a quality converter for those cars. They haven't failed us yet, and they won't in the future.

same,, the tcm/valve body have gone through several updates, make sure to put the correct o/s software with the correct tcm or you can brick it.

I don't mean to bring up such and old thread but now that everyone has things figured out, I have an important question. Does anybody out there make a flexplate for the L76 in the G8, fits the 6l80, and is nice and light? I have the opportunity to get to it right now and I want to have a flex plate like this so I can cut down on overall rotating mass. This thread covers three of the cars concerning the 6L80 and I hope you all can point me where to go to get the right flexplate if there is one considerably lighter. Google isn't helping much.
