Ultimately its the car dealers that should have more sense, since they could have gave the coustomer the $4500 and still made a profit off the trade. The program was rushed and a ultimate fail IMO. Yeah, they got a lot of trash off the roads, but what a waste!

Hopefully that GNX was just a hulk with some junkyard engine to get the thing to run. I assume this stats come from checking VIN numbers, and the VIN said it was a GNX but it in reality was a junker.
If not, anyone up for a lynch mob?

Kinda gotta wonder if some shady **** didn't happen with a few of those cars. There's no way in hell that nobody involved with those trades didn't know what was they were dealing with.
I don't care how bad of shape that GN GNX was in. One of the rules were that it had to be in running condition and I can guarantee you that it was worth more than $4500 in that case. I can't believe nobody jumped in and said, "Hey, listen, I'll give you 10k for it if you just sell it to me instead."
It just gets me all fueled up reading stuff like this...

Anyone know the real reason why some of these were turned in as clunkers? I mean some of them obviously had more value in being sold privately...just curious as to if anyone has a valid explanation?

Honestly, it's got to be some bullshit to get people rhiled up. Why would someone turn in a 3 year old 350Z or a Roush F-150 that costs god knows how much. A Bentley? I'm calling bullshit.
