isnt this the same type of thing the ford boys were bitching about when they compared the 2010 ss camaro to the 2010 gt mustang? they said it wasnt fair that the ss camaro had significantly more hp so they matched it up to the supercharged gt500 mustang instead...which had 120+ more hp than the n/a ss camaro and still only beat it in the 1/4 mile by one tenth. take the ss camaro and throw a blower on it and youll tear the gt500 slowstang a new one. same thing goes in this test...throw a supercharger or turbo(s) on the 5.3 and let it eat! for that matter, throw twin turbos on the 4.3 and see how it compares to fords. just goes to show that ford has to do crazy **** to out do chevy, and dodge for that matter.

No, not at all. I haven't heard anybody talk about the 2010 Mustang GT in at least a year. If you're talking about the 2011 Mustang GT, then it's been proven time and time again that it's at the very least as fast as the Camaro SS, and faster in many (most?) tests. So you're either sadly misinformed, looking to start an even bigger argument, or a bad combination of both.

But wait, what's this? Could it be a Chevy nutswinger getting a little pissy and using some "grade school vocabulary"??

Sooo it's fine for you to use a derogatory term like retard, but I can't call you a mother ******, which in some cases would be considered a compliment? Clearly you are the bigger man, maybe I should just stick to my Ford and Justin Bieber forums.

And to call me a Ford fanboy because I'm backing what could be a game changing engine, instead of criticizing it like you? Please Ford has been stepping up the game a lot lately, I wouldn't be surprised if this engine brings big change to the pick-up world. It might even take the place of the 1/2 ton diesels that we should have had already. But shame on Ford for pushing toward change, pushrod V8’s for life yo!

im extremely ignorant about low end torque. especially when i drive my 18,700lbs. bus around. i dont give a **** about ford this or that. WTF does Ford have to do with my 454 CHEVY pulling better than these stupid 6.2 liter BS engines? sounds like a chevy fanboy losing his cool. IMO.

powerjoke is what it is.

What the **** is all that about? You insult someone and then when they respond you not only threaten them but then in turn insult them back? How are you supposed to regulate the discussions on here when you can't even regulate yourself? It's time to get off your soap box Cody, your not better or smarter than everyone else on here no matter how big your ego has gotten lately, you've only become more opinionated and imperceptive as of late.

Ever considered increasing emissions regulations? Remember the 70s? Many superior performers have gotten the axe due to emissions, NVH, etc

I think turboed engines are a perfect fit in trucks (Look at my sig - I own one).

Whether it's DI gas or Turbo Diesel to me, is going to be the debate going forward. Can a DI Turbo gas give the same reliablility as a Turbo Diesel - not going to get into a major Diesel vs Gas arguement here - the people who tow, know the outcome.

Anyway, new technology is a good thing. Brands pushing each other to be better and offer more power at lower emissions and fuel consumption is even better - especially to everyone of us - the consumer.

Time will tell....

for the record: IMO the chevrolet TD is the best out there. im familiar with them from a tuning and turbo stand point. i like how tunable they are, and how much power can be had without a lot of expensive add-ons.

i get 10-11 mpg with my 99 454. about the same as a ford v10, or 6 liter chevy. pulling 2500-3000 rpms going down the interstate means it will last.

Yup, I think the best my grandparents ever got with their V10 ford was about 12mpg all highway unloaded.

Sure it gets decent mileage but if you want mileage you can get one of the other little engines for much cheaper. If you want to tow you can get the bigger engine thats still cheaper and has more power. If Ford is smart they will allow the 6.2 to be put in other trim levels otherwise theyre going to have to continue to rely on their commercial gimmicks to sell trucks.
They will be reguardless of what motortrend says, you will see them in the XLT 4x4 packages

It will require a complete rework to accomplish. The 6.2 doesn't physically fit into the current chassis' engine bay.

I'm sure it could be done without too much work... Ford isn't exactly hurting for money right now, and that would put the Mustang ahead of the competition with almost no argument. Imagine a class-leading 475hp Mustang GT.

I Know someone who works for Fords and he said an engineer from research and development told him that they were working on a 6.2 version for the mustang, i dont know of how true that is though.

That would be pretty cool to see! The pony wars competition between Ford and Chevy would really heat up if that 6.2 would be put in the mustang!

It'd make for a great straight line monster......kind of like a reincarnation of the old Boss 429. I just don't think that big heavy motor would do the Mustang any favors in terms of handling balance. Remember, we're not talking about GM's small block 6.2, here. I think all a 6.2 powered Mustang could offer would be HP bragging rights.

Meh, the new aluminum SC'd 5.4>>>>>aluminum 6.2. If they came out with an aluminum 428 to put in the GT500 with atleast 550hp all motor I would be all for it, but I couldn't see the 6.2 doing that without being a really peaky motor. An aluminum 6.2 in the Boss would be badass though.

Have they talked about a SC'd 6.2 yet? I thought I heard they were coming out with one but haven't seen anything on it. I would HAVE to buy a Raptor if it came SC'd with 600hp
