What's really impressive is that's only 3 sec behind the ZR1 with 133hp less.

I am amazed a few upgrades can knock off20 seconds!!! The Z06 ran incredibly well before, but this puts it near the top of Supercar field for less then 1/2 the price of its Euro competitors. Corvette just keeps getting better.

So this means the Z06 is also faster than the GTR at the 'ring. Good stuff GM!!

Why the skinny tires? Wonder if using the right size would have made it as quick as the ZR1, did they run the right size on the ZR1 for it's time? Either way that's bad ***, planning on getting one (06/07, maybe 08) next year.

I'm thinking that it was done on the correct/factory size tire, that the photo above was posted just to show the brand/style....the mention of 'wrong size' being written possibly for the ones in the photo and not the ones on the actual car? Not sure if that's actually the case though.

Like I mentioned in the OP, not the right size, just that style of tire so you know what you are looking at.

Don't know about that man, those Pilot Sport's are a pretty phenomenal tire from what I've read.

You think the 20 second lap time improvement is because of a slightly better suspension/brake package?

The original time was from a stand still, so it's more like a 10 second improvement.

Still damn impressive though.

I also wouldn't call the Michelins junk. That kind of performance from a run flat is phenomenal.

Not knocking the tires but the magnetic shocks alone would make a substantial difference on a track like this, and the brakes are more than just a "slight" improvement as well when it comes to fade and high speed stopping multiple times.
