Did you not see the Fiat 500 Abarth commercial?
I chuckle every time I see a Chrysler commercial too.

Ownership doesn't mean a company is automatically foreign. Chrysler still engineers, designs, manufactures and keeps a massive chunk of their profits here just as they did when they were independent. It means they have a foreign sugar daddy now, no different than Lotus, Bentley, Rolls Royce, Jaguar, Land Rover and Aston Martin which are still British automaker who have gone through various parent companies over the years.

I do believe that many "foreign" companies do fall into that category. They have entire infrastructures of management, designers, engineers, etc., all based in this country. It's not like they just ship parts over and have them assembled.

It isn't.
Lotus has been owned by both GM in the past and Proton now who is looking to sell them, there is nothing American or Malaysian about Lotus products.
Same with Chrysler, they were owned by Daimler-Benz and now Fiat, there is nothing German or Italian about any of their vehicles.
Or Holden with GM, it's owned by an American company but they make purely Australian cars in Australia.

Fiat is already adding thier motors to the caliber. the benz based pentastar is the motor for majority of their lineup.

Are you serious? The stereo's in every dodge is a mercedes canbus system. the ignition code and cycle benz. even slight nuances of benz the solid door shut and blocky lines. awd benz... the rwd movement was a benz thought too. Hell look at the styling of crossfire and even the three lines on hood vs the slk. I could go on but i think the point has been proven.

I thought the ad was great. But leave it to the pin head extreme right wing to try to spin it as a pro Obama commercial.

I think Chrysler has hit a home run with this advertising campaign. I like their commercials a lot, and no matter what the haters say, they have a lot of nice vehicles in their line up now.
