the one girl in the article gets close to 40 now, because she coasts down hills....so what to do in iowa?

the other thing that is gonna be funny is when the warranties start to expire and they have to get repairs done out of their on pocket.....the bottoms of those cars look like computer motherboards.....

You know, if the EPA changes how they calculate vehicle mileage, are the CAFE requirements going to be adjusted? This could make every GM truck a gas guzzler and add a price penalty.

There's a chart on future requirements in the November 2005 issue of Motor Trend. It's on page 19.

Yea, but what happens if the EPA makes a new mileage test and every single OEM has it's corporate averages drop because of it? Most US automakers are right on the edge of meeting the requirement. If they lose 3 mpg, they will be screwed.

More than 280 owners of hybrid-powered Escapes and their guests, who are traveling from 24 different states, will learn driving tips to improve fuel efficiency and get a chance to ask Ford engineers about hybrid technology. The attendees, who are paying their own travel expenses...
Haha, buy a $500 plane ticket so we can teach you how to save 50 cents on a tank of gas.

Hybrids are a band-aid. Trying to improve on gas mileage whilst using the same "non-renewable" fuel doesn't fix the problem. We will see a cleaner future when an economically viable alternative fuel made from a renewable resource is perfected. That is why I have such high hopes for ethanol or something like it.

exactly.......like someone else said before, you may as well stick with a tdi because the mileage is the same, but the real issue is finding something completely "alternative"

Those who buy these cars are not very intelligent enough to do a thorough research into the maintenance and overall longevity cost as did Edmunds reported.

Sad to see though.

Yet, our biggest laugh is when I posted the results of a 72-MPG Turbo Diesel MB S-Class four-door that is alot better in size, performance, and value over anything that Honda or Toyota can muster. Now, did anyone with those hybrids get it? More like

Exactly, but the shift to better diesel fuel has to happen before that can occur.
