It does not nearly look as much like a 350Z as the first concept did though. I would like some proof of its Ring runs as well. However, I do think it looks rather bad assed. Shall be a very fearsome ride.

Oh wait, we have to make it fair and Twin Turbo the Vette, so basically add that extra $24k price into it for the turbo kit and you get a 530HP GTR versus a 1000+HP Z06.

What I really want is for Nissan/Infiniti to shove this motor/drivetrain into the G35 Sedan to give us a G37R/G38R. Mmmmm.

**** man, look at the front end, could anybody possibly like that ****? It looks like a ******* whale's mouth! I pretty much don't like anything about this car, it kinda reminds me of that vans with the 15 foot tail pipes with all the vents and low ground effects and spoilers.

seriously guys?
This car is in its own category IMO. A bit pricey at $90+ for the top dog model but still a unique import sports car. You can't compare it to a used WS6.
I think the 480hp version will be tough competition for the new LS3 vette but at $10k more itll be tough to sell to an american crowd. Most will start to venture towards a ZO6 or porsche at that price point.
I do agree though some of the styling is overdone. Too many vents...why cant they make a nice slick modern 350Z design.

Nice power, the car screams japanese body cladding tho.. it's just too much in my opinion.
It looks like if they were trying to top the US as far as power goes they'd have given it a little more power than the newest viper 600hp, and the upcoming vette 6xx hp.
But at least they have an offering now, which is a positive thing in itself. Who knows how well they might mod as well, the 580hp version may have an insane bottomend.
Later,
Josh

I like it. I wouldn't buy one over a Vette, but it will have a market in this country (just not on this board, hehe). I'm curious to see how much power these engines can produce. I've always thought Japanese straight sixes to be superior to their V counterparts. I haven't heard about any 1000 hp 350Zs which have an NA version of what appears to be the engine in the new GTR, atleast as far as I can tell. Anyways, diff'rent strokes for crazy folk eh?

So then who will Nipsan sell them to (in limited numbers, let alone mass quantities), middle aged crazies (like me, but NO thanks, I DO NOT buy import nameplates), uppity executives, some rich $h!t who really wants a Ferrari (and REFUSES to buy a domestic Z06/Viper)?? Curious to hear your take on this.

I'm sure there are gunna be atleast a few people who have the money to afford this car. Like I said, I can't see many people on this site really being interested in owning one, but this site is NOT representative of the automotive enthusiast community as a whole. I see this car being popular in larger cities and areas where there is often inclement whether that would cause one not to want to pull out a Z06. I think there is more of a market for this car than many of you realize. Evos and STIs have done pretty well, as have Porsche Turbos and this car slots in between the two. I can't imagine the production numbers being very high at all. Maybe 10,000 total, probably less, including all models (400-500 horspower). Only time will tell. If I had 100k, I'd buy a Vette. If I had 200k I'd buy both.

BTW; the Evos and STIs did so well mainly because they are so affordable for the given all conditions performance (with the proper tires, of course). But, they are still only a little more than HALF the cost of the least expensive version of this thing.

I think it's awesome, and I think it will be faster on a circuit than any American car except the Z06.
I would REALLY like to see an article or link on that 7:41 minute run around the Nurburgring... The C6 Z06 has done it at 7:42 with abundant proof by respected journalists and the track websites, but I haven't heard anything about the Nissan GTR prototype going that fast... In fact, the last run I heard they did was at around 8:20's... That's alot of shaving, and I love to read a link that substantiates this. I personally thought they'd end up higher in the sevens, e.g. 7:57 minutes.
BUMP for 7:42 'Ring lap time proof...
Either way, it will hand MANY cars its *** around a circuit and nearly all from the US, including the current Viper despite the power it makes... Z06? I'd really like to see proof before I believe it.

Don't get me wrong, though, I love the Skyline, mostly the R32 generation, but meh. I think it's great competition, just like the Supra and 3000GT used to be. I still call the mitsu's Japanese Firebirds....
