As far as rain racing, it's mostly a time-trial kind of affair, point to point style races around my hometown. We have a lot of back roads that are nothing but pavement and dirt, and you'd be crazy as **** driving YOUR car down them in any more than a 5% chance of rain. That's why people around here take more CAPABLE vehicles for their runs. I'd love to see you come down here on a rainy day and just look at the roads we go on, and then just shake your head and drive off like a ***** because there are rocks that would BREAK your car out there. And no, it's not a redneck thing, more of a rally-type competition between some friends and I.
Also, that vintage of Escorts run 20+ second quarter miles, so no....do some research before making stupid *** remarks! My truck is actually quicker than all who I've raced with the same setup, so chew on that a little bit. So far, I've only got an official loss to a Silverado with the 5.3L, headers, and nitrous a-sprayin(total loss btw lol) and s'charged harley davidson F-150, both at the track.
On wet or dry dirt roads, I'm only beaten by the guys with their smaller awd cars...
The point I was TRYING to make about the original comment was that there are more types of racing than just drag, and you guys should learn about them a little bit before stating absolutes.

unfortunately mustangs are capitalizing on a smart idea. make them really cheap, and makes lots of them. that way they are really successful. ive never heard the ***** remark, but ive heard 'mustangs are like bellybuttons, everyone has one'. the thing with any car they put out is, they have a big enough crowd everyone will hump it whether it sucks or not

ya i respect them for what they do. on the other hand that is why i didn't want a mustang when i bought my car. i dont want what everyone else has. still a great car, and they are good at selling them.
