Now they're saying 422hp instead of 416, that's cool.
And what's this LS3 (422hp) verus L99 (400hp) thing mean?
Is that Active Fuel Management/Displacement on Demand related or what?

And I hope everyone realizes just how strong that automatic version is going to be coming out of the hole.
The A6 (6L80) transmission has a 4.03 (4.02?) first gear and when coupled with even the 2.56 rear in the Corvette the car jumps, with the optional 2.73s even more so.
Now granted the Camaro is much heavier than the C6 but when that trans is combined with a 3.27 rear axle ratio this car will be a total tire fryer!

Yeah , the trans. in the SS appears to be a true close ratio unit . Probably do at lest 60-65 in first gear even with a 3.42 gear. If I'm not mistaken it seems like I read at first that the launch control would only be available with the automatic , but then on another page they had it listed for the manual trans. also . Could someone correct me on this .

I don't know too much about the launch control option but I will correct ya on that new rear axle ratio, it's a 3.45 not a 3.42.

It's rated at around 25mpg highway but I'm betting that a manual car at steady legal/just above legal highway speeds will see higher than that.
Early '09 is the projected release to the public I think.

Oh man, there's going to be a whole new training process for the lingo used on these cars just like there has been with the Corvette since 2006.
The new way to differentiate between the two transmissions (at least on the V8 models) now has to be "automatic or manual" not "automatic or 6 speed".
They're ALL 6 speeds now.
