Default GM & F partnering up

No not a merger. But sharing R&D on the Chevy Volt engine.

Makes me happy seeing this two brands work togather.

Haha, good one! It's along the lines of what I was thinking. Imagine if the 03/04 Cobras had Supercharged LS1's with forged internals! Wow!

This partnership should be interesting.

may even be a good way to get their stock to bounce back a bit, should be a good time to buy and sit on it for awhile ??

If I had money I'd buy F at its price. But my money is tied up in WM Washington Mutual. GM is sorta of a good buy at 10 but it can touch 9. Ford is great buy at 4.50 cause it won't touch 3 unless things get real bad.

I wouldn't mind shared powertrains.

It'd simplify the everloving hell out of aftermarket stuff.

Shared diesel engines across the light duty and medium duty truck lines. GM supplying V8's with gusto and economy for trucks and cars. Ford taking care of techy engines like direct injection forced induction engines.

GM is a buy at $9.00 - $11.00 per share.

This is strickly for the Chevy Volt motor design. GM wants to share it with F to cut their costs. But an LS stang would be sick.

I don't think it's a bad idea at all. I think it could add a nice twist to our world. I like...

Default ls1 motor connection with ford???

I was talking to some ford guy one night hanging out with a few friends and he was telling me about the ls1 motor originally being fords design??????? it kinda made me mad cuz i didnt know anything about it so i could be like no dumbass.. he said they sold GM the design because they were going to ohc motors (which really worked out for them huh...) but anyways.. i've been trying to look online for the engineering but i cant find anything!! all i can find is that GM is proposing to team up with ford on engine and tranny designs.. and something about the past joint projects.. maybe ls1?? but does anyone know the engineering of the motor??

Ive never heard of such a thing. Let me guess, the other guy was a Blue Oval fan? He was probably trying to make ford look a little better for the whole OHC motor being weak. Well, they are except for the SC cobra anyways.

Ive worked on both ford and chevy, and they both have trademark things in their designs. the ls1 doesnt resemble anything ford has done. there is NOTHING ford related in the LS1. end of story.

all true, but it was still gm that designed it. ford didn't sell the design to GM. there is a guy on another forum that is putting ls heads on a 351 W ford, and yea there are a lot of similarities there... but in the end GM engineers designed it.
