Default CTS-V'S Hard To Sell?

Looking to get into a 2004-2005 CTS-V. Just wondering if I would want to sell later, would it be hard to sell? Anyone sold theres lately?

My Guess, and this is only a guess,... But to the younger crowd Hard to sell cuz you can buy a 2009 G8 for the price of an 04-05 cts-v.

It's "hard" to sell because it's a niche vehicle. No different than any similar car. You might get lucky and sell it to the casual used car shopper, but most potential buyers would be people looking for the exact vehicle. Usually, down to the color and interior, etc.

honestly, you absolutely never know. unless you are like GM and are about to auction off their entire collection of vehicles(1st 69' camaro, GNX etc.) then it all comes down to luck. also depends on how the economy is a yr or two from now. Since GM is shutting down it's performance division so no more V's will be produced, it may help out a little bit because people don't have anything new to wait or look for.

^ that isn't true all their current offerings will continue to be sold. There just won't be any new products. That shouldn't be a huge deal considering the new cts-v just came out...

As for the g8 comment you can get a g8 but only in an auto.... i am in the market for one right now the reason it is hard to sell is because not a lot of people really know about the cts-v... I knew it had power, but I figured it was like every other domestic that had a bunch of horses, weighed 5000lbs, and couldn't turn for ****...

Yup, not a car for the masses. I wasn't even looking when I got mine. Had a 03 Acura TL and 01.5 Audi S4. Then I saw a guy selling his and I ended up trading my Acura and some $ for the 04 CTS-V.

I always thought it was a car that is big, heavy, boring inside. Then I took it for a spin and loved it. Some love the look, some don't. It's not common where I live and lot of people think it's another family car until they hear the exhausts.

^^^^LOL

I was looking for one for about 6 months before I found mine.... Was originally wanting Black on black but came to find out this was the most popular combination.... Starting looking for a light platinum and found one with light grey interior.. Not as popular LOL

It's kinda nice in one way around here, Cops don't give it a second look

Most people think its just a CTS, in fact a girl I work with says she sees cars like mine all over town I laughed cause there are only three of us LOL

But to the true car guy/girl there is just something great about them that very few people actually know about..

No big plans for mine, exhaust, wheels and tint gotta save money to build the TA up more

CTS-V's are a niche vehicle but every time I drive mine I get out with an evil grin and a awesome adrenaline buzz. You might find that you will have a tough time selling the car after you drive it for awhile!!

Cars, for most people, are not an investment, but if you weigh this, the V has a short, bad history, as resale is tough, due to limited buyers looking for a 6-speed, sedan, POS rear, 16 mpg---personally it has everything I would look for in a car, but most people do not share our criteria. The price of gas and insurance will definitely affect your resale price, but no one can predict that now. If you like the car, buy one, enjoy it, forget the economics,,, I did, as I paid MSRP less $500.00 when I bought mine in August 2004. In retrospect I could have put my money in the stock market, and have about $10,000 today, so I did pretty good!!!

BTW, recant, as my V was a great investment compared to what the market has returned in the last 54 months.

I was pointing out the fact that a G8 can be bought with a manual trans. I agree with you that 38k is insane for a new car that after putting in the key and rolling off the lot its depreciated to maybe 25k +/- .

I would say to anyone listening if your intrested in a V, gather as much money as you can. Check with your insurance agent on the premium issue. And pull the trigger on the newest 04-07 V with the lowest miles and the right color combo for you. Find a CPO car if you can (certified pre-owned = longer warranty). There were some on ebay that were low low mile for 21k.

There out there you have to determine what color you want and shop till you find exactly what you want.

I remember around the time I bought my first V they were going for around $30k still for '04s. One of the best economical things I've done was total that car honestly. I bought my current V for what was at the time a good deal for $18k.

Thanks everybody. I just hated getting hung with a car and can't get rid of it without giving it away. It sure sounds like a super car though!

As soon as my truck sells, I'll be in the market for one myself. I've always wanted one, but rode in one last weekend for the first time and fell in love. I want to spend under $20k if anyone is selling.
