what year ctsv to get? I am in the market for a used ctsv what year should I get, are the 6.0 better than the 5.7's? Any in put would b great thanks for the help in advance.

... but i perfer the ls6... hand built by one person.... somethign about having a z06 vette motor appeals to me more so than having the drivetrain of a base model vette and the drivetrain from an abortion such as the gto....

400 and 400 i believe... the ls6 is a higher rpm motor and the ls2 is more torque oriented... it boils down to whats in your price range.. cars for sale and selection, color, mods it already has etc... youll know the car for you when you find it... i looked all over till i found my 1 owner 10k miles, 2005 v in chicago that was boner stock last june... i new she was the one, even tho it wasnt silver...

The only main difference in the ls6 motor and the ls2 motor is that the valves in the ls2 are not sodium filled like the ls6.
The ratings are so close that you would be squabling over minuteness.
I had never heard the ls6 was handbuilt, i thought only the new z06/ls7 motor and the zr1 motor were handbuilt, well those and the original zr-1 motor.

Buy the cleanest one, as I place a great weight on how the car was maintained (mechanically, exterior and interior). Mileage is important, but these motors should go 150K without issues, so IMO 10k more on the odometer is not a make or break. The LS6 vs. LS2 arguement is nauseating, there are differences, but not enough to sway one who has researched both. Most '04s and '05s have the upgraded rear-end, but not the half-shafts, so give the nod to the '06s and '07s for drivetrain reliability. In the end, drive as many as you are able to, if the price is close, and the condition is the same, go with the newer one.

Agreed, the LS6/LS2 arguements are ridic!
They both are great motors....Very very simular....
I would find the cleanest one and go from there...There are plenty of grey-haired guys giving them up these days....
I bought my 05 in like NOV 05 with 20k miles on it, it was brand new! Some oldy drove it up and down the highway!
Check into the 06's...

Yeah, realized that, but if you get an '06 or '07, you have a little more 'false' security due to the axles being a wider diameter. And as I have said before, the '06/'07 diffs are marginally better, but not to the extent that you could launch it without feeling vulnerable. I think the greatest determining factor in buying a used V, or any other hi-pro used vehicle, is the manner in which it was maintained, and how well it performs during the test drive. All of the other arguements are weightless,,,

I am on a tight budget and I will pay cash, I am looking for a great deal (like every one now days). I will drive the car a ton. (40K a year) I do all of my own mechanical work and I am not afraid of getting dirty. I live a few minutes from the local drag strip and I have been known to visit it of Friday night. I was looking at late model vets but I have two small children and the ctsv seams to fit my needs better it is a great compromise car for me.
