Default rc51 solid motor mounts are in, now a question for you guys..

got rid of 80% of the remaining drive train clunk on shifts that the b&m and uuc bushings already hadnt resolved... i think the kars III will get most of the rest... has anyone installed a solid tranny mount with these solid motor mounts? or a solid tranny mount with regular motor mounts? i think if i did my drive line would be tight and not vibrate as much as jsut having the solid motor mounts...

ive always been told that if you make either the tranny or motor mounts solid you must/should do the other...

any input guys?

p.s. it doesnt diesel when i turn it off anymore!!!! yay!

You can do mounts in any variation that you like. Most don't like to use solid in both places because if the body twists it puts a lot of stress on the block/trans case. In some cases that leads to cracking.

yeha i seen he pured some urethene in it but i dont even no where to get that crap or anything, or mixtures, yikes... the solid motor mount are nice but i think the vibration is gonna take a while to get used to... i was very comfortable with my smooth, quiet yet nimble caddy... now it feels like im in a full out drag car minus the open headers haha i hope a cam and full exhaust cover or at least take my mind off the new found vibrations...

It vibrates that bad? I may not being doing that mod then... I love the smoothness of the ride but do hate the vibration when I turn her off...

You guys may have more vibs because you on a stock engine. IDK My engine was fully balanced and I only have a small vibe at 2k and then its gone. Dont know if the balanced engine has anything to do with that or not. No vibs at all down the highway unless I'm right on 2k. Anything under or over is hardly noticeable. Idle is a little rough but I do have a cam and I like the shaky idle. Reminds me of an old muscle car.

its just how the 'bolted' mounts are, very tight. i tried to explain this guys :/ thats why i took the one i made back out.

the clunk in the drivetrain is the diff mount bushings, your trans mount is prolly ok. i filled mine just cuz i was trying to think of what to do with the extra urethane.

You'll have to find a used kars kit for sale... Should be some popin up now due to the axles "fixing" the wheelhop... My next chassis upgrade other than putting my kars in will be the rear cradle bushings for sure...

Look at this way...

The stock motor mounts are made to be "caddie" style....smooth riding.....That's why they suck for us Gear heads. We destroy them in no time....I think I went through 3 sets or something.

That's also why the Idle RPM is set higher than normal LS6 cars because it would cater to the Caddie customer. Easier and smoother.

I just installed Solid mounds in my Z06. OMG what a difference. The energy transfer alone is ideal. My car is FASTER. Hands down...

My point in talking was to chime in on the added vibrations. WTF, it sucks.

NOW I drive a chevy. Everything rattles and buzzzzess....haha!

I say do it if you wanna go fast...

My car vibrated way too much with the cam I am running with those MM. I ended up putting a UUC MM on the passenger side (compression) and the vibration was hardly noticable.

No, the driver side is the solid mount.
