Default World's fastest 1-mile CTS-V

Yesterday was the big 1-mile event in South Florida. The weather was beyond brutal, 95 degree air temp, no wind, and the 90+%humidity added at least another 10 degrees to the air temp. I have lived in South Florida for 40 years and cannot remember a hotter day. The V shined, I hit 162mph on the best of my five runs, nothing broke, but the hood did bang into the top of the TB on a few runs. On the 162mph run I launched in 2nd gear, which does not hurt much with my setup, and chose this route as 1st was creating too much tire spin. I brought my C6, but did not get an opportunity to run it, Jamie took it down the strip and hit 180mph, clutch fluid was boiling in the Vette so it was done after three consecutive 180mph passes. Jamie is a proven driver, so I know the 180mph was all it had.

Here are a few notes:
1) 1-mile is way better than 1/4 mile, there is no comparison, if you have never participated or attended such an event, do so, as it will make you a fan
2) At close to 4,300lbs, I had a passenger, the V is damn impressive
3) Best run was shift points of 6,500rpms, power peaked at 6,100, but you need to wind out each gear
4) On 162mph run, shifted out of 5th at 6,500rpms, probably shifted at the 3/4 mile mark, so only gained about 7mph in 6th gear
5) Shifting at 6,100rpms only got me to 152mph
6) 162 mph is flying, a little scary but also a huge adrenaline rush, I have new respect for the NASCAR guys, as they drive at much higher speeds, in traffic, pass others, and make turns
7) I am considering a 100-shot if I do such an event again, as at 155mph, 6th gear is puny
8) Best $100.00 I have ever spend, well except for that one trip to Tijuana

All told it was a great day, except for the ride home, as was stopped by an LEO with the Local Indian Tribe and he ticketed the C6 for tinted headlight and tail lights. You cannot ask any questions, such as the tint rating or percentage, the Indian Tribes are Sovereign Nations, they are allowed to enforce any law they wish, and you cannot challenge them, as they have their own laws and courts---FAWKING BULLSHIAT!!!!!!!!

For now, until someone posts better, my V is The King, not sure if this will get me on Leno's show, but it sure sounds good.

Not sure if I have any videos, I will get back to you on this,,,

The fastest I went in the V prior to the event was around 130mph on a three lane highway, racing a a Bentley GT. In comparing the two, going fast on a runway is a more comforting, as nothing is on either side of you except 50 feet of asphalt.

Probably took me over a mile but still rolling. This is me by the way. 4 in the morning on a 4 lane highway. I've been 176 and the computer cut me off but it was really hot and humid that night and I ran out of road.

I blew out of there around 4:00 P.M., trip back to Coral Springs is a little over an hour. The V was not going to get any faster as I feel the 162mph run was perfect. A 150-shot is the only way the V will get a better time, unless I change the gearing, which will not happen. There was an S65, a C63 and a few other MBs there, I need to know there times, as doubt if many four doors at 4,300lbs outdid my V. The C6 was done after its three runs, as the clutch was slipping a little bit and the fluid was black and boiling.

Sweet, anything over 150mph is white knuckle territory, you need to get your car to one of these events, as watching the bikes hit 200+mph and a Ford GT twin hit 215+mph is freaking awesome. 1-mile events are shizzle!!!

It's way down in south Texas. Maybe a couple H-town V's will go and make a good showing.

I heard the event organizer who hosted yesterday's meet will do another one in a few months. Another organizer has events planned for the first two weekends in November, here is the link:

I'd love to go check out one of these events. I thought a group did one hear near northeast Texas in Caddo Mills. Not sure if they still do it or not.

Congrats onebadcad! What is your RWHP?

Raven- that is Fing sweet! What do you make at the wheels? What tires do you have? Do you have a spoiler? Where was that road? Can I come and play?

What is your RWHP?

I was under the impression we could only go 162 and 6th gear was crap. That maggie was spitting at 4k to give you some HP. WOW

NICE
