Short Shifter Question?
Fellas,
I am in the market for a short throw shifter for my V. However I really don't want to tackle an install that requires dropping the tranny or the exhaust.
Thus, do all makes/manuf. require this (if so I will just wait till I do a Clutch, etc to do such mod) OR is there a shifter that truly is a "bolt on" kit?
Thanks in advance,
LAW

No you will not need to drop the transmission and/or the exhaust, to swap to a short throw shifter, is done from inside the vehicle, nothing that bad of a job.

No need to drop the trans or the exhaust.
but it is alittle tigh under the car were you have to reach , and drilling out the rivets is a pain in the butt.
Theres a few threads kickin around. One of the newest ones is called short shifter install "from the top" , that one has some good info and tips.

lol for the price B&M......like ewvryone else said, pop the shifter boot off, unbolt the dust shield, drill the rivets. Hardest part is reaching the 3 bolts under the car to install the new one. You def need two people for that part. Other then that its not too bad.

I just bought a UUC VKnob and love it.
It is raining here today and I just went out in the garage and played with the VKnob. As most of you know, where it mounts on the stock shifter is a joke.....way too high.
So, I was brainstorming for other options and I think I may have figured one out. I am going to "notch" the stock shifter down much, much lower so that the VKnob has all of the stock shifter shaft "inside" of it.
I just test fit this idea and the shift pattern is much better....by dropping the shifter height it makes the shifts much shorter.
