New Tune and Dyno numbers
First off, This Tucson heat is a pain in the *** for tuning. It was 101 degrees inside and we were getting 183 degree air intake temps. I don't care who says otherwise, that is straight robbing power. But it does pull great and is still on a pretty safe overall tune. I'm going back to to the track next week to try to get an 11.99 et.

These cars weigh just about the same as the late model GTO's which I happen to have owned 2 of them. The 06, ran 12.19 with just a few simple bolt ons and had the same wheel hop issues the cts-v has. I replaced the rear springs and that greatly helped. In the end it was putting down 380/375.
Why does it seem like a struggle for the cts-v to hit 11.99 with a 396 and a maggie? Maggie only gto's where running 11.5-11.9. Not to be a jackass...but is this just a drivers issue? I get the heat being an issue too, but I would hope, a maggie cts-v putting down between 450-470 rwhp would hit 11's more time than it misses.

Environmental conditions will certainly rob power, especially 183degree F IATs, that's up there.
But honestly, numbers are just numbers, it's driving manners and times that are important. If you want a high number, head to the east coast at sea level in January, get on a DynoJet and print uncorrected numbers. It won't make you any faster though.

Just because you have an LS engine does not mean it will do well at the track. These cars suck on the strip.

Also remember this car was built to appeal to the 40 something crowd. I doubt drag racing was a thought when being built.

Well every vehicle has their inherent issues that must be overcome. Hell, Hondas are FWD (quite possibly the largest crippling factor of someone that wants to drag race), but that doesn't keep a select few from running their street-going Civics and Integras into the 8 second passes.
If all that's wrong with this car is wheel hop conditions, that's straight forward to overcome.
When we get Chris' in the shop after he picks it up, I'm going see what can be done for designing a heim-joint threaded-adjustable control arm/mounting kit.

Like someone else said already, don't put to much in the numbers. Last summer in Phx I only put down 322rwhp 318trq and it was 102 in the warehouse.

I guess if this is a 12.0 with a 2.3 60' that makes more sense because they are being babied off the line, but I was only cutting 1.7x's on a 235 tire in the gto. Maybe the softer suspension helped.
Just a general question. Maybe a driver mod is in need. That is not intended to offend anyone by the way. A great driver in a slower car can make a poor driver in a fast car look bad.

Yes, I'm sure that after 6 years the reason the V1 has bad 1/4 times is due to everyone being a bad driver. Or maybe it's the severe lack of aftermarket drag racing oriented parts. The only "production" upgraded rear end is the $8000 Madman.

it has nothing to do with needing a 8k rear. just honestly i think the majority of v1 owners have never been to the track before in a rwd car. those who have post good times with a stock v1.

12.9 with a 2.1 60 foot, with bolt ons and tune, at 110 she really doesnt have much more in her i think. im gunna try and wait for a nice 55 degree day and leave the hole harder, but as for slaytera he has alot of freakin power and putting that to the ground isnt easy he can just throw slicks on it and hope for the best or else he's not driving that thing home.

[q]or the drivers are just taking it easy on the rear ends...[/q]
Thats what I am doing. I have 9 or 10 passes on my car and all are babied off the line (2.2 60's) and granny shift the 1-2. I'm sure stock, my car would hit low 13s if I went all out and 12's with drag radials...but I'm skurr'd
EDIT: I've had 4 fbodys and hundreds upon hundreds of track passes with great 60's so in this case it isnt the driver Also (not on this board), many people's times in their signatures were made by me..lol.

I have had five total passes at the track with this car so far. I am no newbie when it come to drag racing either. I'm not making excuses but Tucson is high in altitude, hot and has a shitty track with very poor prep. The DA here sucks bad. Most TNT nights are street legal drags and there is no prep because street tires tear it up. Any way,
1st run was 12.4@119 2.0 60'
2nd run was 12.9 and I spun really bad out of the hole
3rd run was 12.4@121 2.0 60'
The car was tuned after this and there was like 30hp/35tq + in tuning. I also pulled all the mats, rear seat and trunk carpet, pulling like 102lbs out of the car. I added 2.5 gallons of 100 octane fuel for "safety".
4th run was 12.5@120 I spun through 1,2 and 3.
5th run was when the MagnaVolt blew
So yeah, I admit I don't have alot of experience with this car. I am going to have to walk this thing out of the hole next run. Last run I had, traction was the issue. This thing did not want to hook up at all. But with the launching/traction problems, this thing hauls *** on the street and straight moves the **** out up top. A solid run I could see it trapping like 123ish.
Whatever, I just want an 11 sec slip for my 2 ton 4 door.

Do you have a dyno with the boost logged below? Your TQ is falling WAY off past 5000rpm's, even your HP begins to drop a little. I know thats the nature of the beast with roots blowers, but I also thought your 122 would hold TQ/HP longer. I'm sure the heat and elevation play into this too. I've played with the idea of upgrading my 112 to a 122, but now I think maybe a twin screw TVS would be the better choice.
Make a trip here to Houston during the winter, take it to the track and you will be deep into the 11's. It's not uncommon to have a negative DA on a nice 65 degree night.
Good luck and get your 11.xx pass on video!
