High miles? That's my specialty.

My 05 is coming up on 170,000 miles. Original engine and trans, the diff was replaced with a Gen 4 by a dealership around 125,000. The car makes a little over 400 to the wheels. Compression is 180+ on all 8. Either burns a 1/2 quart or does not burn any oil in 5k (depending on which oil I use). It sees redline every time I drive it, assuming the oil temp gets over 150 degrees. The trans shifts perfectly at any rpm. Everything is working properly and looks good, including the leather. The seats are still very supportive and have minimal wear. I averaged 30.1 mpg driving a straight highway 500 mile trip back in September(I was trying to break my old record of 27.4).

My CTS-V has a trailer hitch and has occasionally been used to tow things that it should not be towing. My suspension probably isn't as tight as everyone else's but it hasn't slowed me down. Most of the bushings are original, the shocks were replaced at different points after 100k. The maintenance has been very minimal, like a Honda. I guess mine is a good one. It still has the original radiator.

I think the worst part about these cars are the headlights. Mine are still original, but I work on lenses every year to keep them clear.

I do paint correction on the side, so while the paint is original it has had a lot of help. There is no wax/sealant on the car here. Just clean paint.

It comes in handy when I go into Philadelphia, or somewhere with crowded street parking. I know it stabbed one person's car who came too close.

I think I put something like 10k miles on mine in two years.

A/C ate itself, broke the diff (2004) at the track, and rear window regulators broke, but other than that, no biggies.

It's been a decent car. I thought it was going to be worse, being all the stories you hear about GM's being shitty, but it's not that bad.

I would say I'm moderatly satisfied with it.

I'm pretty sure my car was beat on a good bit when I bought it and that's my own fault. I got antsy and bought the first one I went to see. The trans could use a rebuild.. the servos dont allow for the smoothest shifting. The driveshaft causes vibrations after 72 mph. Lots of little things need attention such as the wiper cowl making a flapping noise at hwy speed, the sunroof wind deflector is broken on one side and you have to hold it down for the sunroof to close, one of the rear window motors howls when you use it, the rear view mirrors paint is peeling, the headlights get yellow easily, something is wrong with my steering and it's eating my front tires (tie rods seem fine and alignment shop didn't see anything was worn).

Otherwise, I have zero complaints about the 4th gen rear that came with it and the engine itself puts out great power with no problems and gets an avg of 21.3 mpg for me @ 85% hwy. The LS7 clutch was a great upgrade when the old one went however, I neglected to install the pilot bearing I had because I didnt have the tool and it was getting late on a Sunday. Now it makes some noise when the clutch is in while the engine is cold.

Lol, I'm an offender, too.

I had to replace my radiator, motor mounts and bleed the clutch/change the trans fluid, but aside from that the V seems to be willing to go the distance without issue so far. I think the PO not keeping up with the clutch fluid is probably why I get some notch-y shifting, but that is not GM' fault.

I have 175000 miles on mine and got it brand new and i go to the road course and track a lot. If its maintained it will last. I have been through one rear end and 1 water pump since its gone out of warranty. No issues with trans even though at 100000 we put in the ls7 clutch and flywheel and still nosmoke even at full throttle. Just get the car checked out really well and take it for a hell of a test drive probably in roads in mexico lol. Good luck

I bought mine with around 97,000 miles on it about 10 months back and I'm now at 108,000. Got it for $13,000. Everything as been ok but I did have a major issue to the tranny so for $1600 I rebuilt the tranny and put a stage 2 clutch in. Other than that a water pump and some new tires..love this car. Don't mind putting the money into it because I always wanted the car but didn't have $18k for lesser miles. I will keep this car and do the maintenance on it until the wheels fall off

Mine has about 125,000 miles, of which I've put on about 45k of those. Considering all the horror stories I've heard, mine has been reliable. All i've done is CS motor mounts, shifter bushings and just last weekend a fuel pump. Diff whines, but it's still the original gen1 diff. Factory clutch still too. Oh, and the usual pads, rotors, tires etc. Previous owner took great care of the car and had lots of service records. Car has seen a few lapping days by me, run the silver state classic twice. I know the previous owner ran it down the 1/4 and a few track days too.

I should probably knock on wood, lol.

I bought mine with 100k and have put 14k VERY hard miles on it since late September. Naturally I've had to begin replacing the things that tend to reach EOL at 100k miles, so theres' definitely hidden expense there, but all in all the car has been rock-solid for me.

I tow my teardrop camper to the track for road course events. About 1000lbs fully loaded and don't really even notice it's back there.

After test driving a G35 Coupe, TSX type S, and a CTS-V- I decided the V was the way to go. Best bang for the buck in the 10-15k range IMO

I just picked up an 05 for what would be fair for a salvage title'd car! Needs some paint correction, a motor mount, and the buttons on the NAV touched up, but otherwise I am VERY excited to own it! already put 500 miles on her-and will be driving it another 350 this weekend. It has 140k now, and I have every confidence it will make it to 200k if I still own it by then. Southern car that has never seen salt, and 180 compression acroess the board.

I speak highly of the Creative Steel mounts, do both and throw in the trans mount too, while you're at it.

Those damned hydraulic mounts smell like bad vagina if they still have liquid in 'em
