Default Borla

I had a Borla catback installed a couple of months ago when I had the tranny replaced in my 04 V. Now the system has settled in its nice. There is some low rpm drone that sucks. Get past that and it's nice. 5" polished muffler tips look cool. Sounds throaty under acceleration and nice raspy sound when you let up. Sounds best around 4K rpm.

All in all I don't feel improved performance. It's mainly sound.

The catalytic converters are the largest restriction in the stock exhaust. High flow replacements or test pipes will make the most noticeable difference. A re-tune would be required for best results.

Thanks. It's already loud enough. High flow cats would be too much. If I went that route they would be hooked up to long tube headers. :-) The engine is stock and staying that way. I have a K&N filer in it and have the Diablo Sport tuner. It's a fun sedan and just sounded too plain with the stock setup.

I've got LTs with high flow cats and x-pipe feeding stock titanium mufflers on an 02 Z06. Lots of engine work. Putting out over 500hp. Sounds great on track at 4-7Krpm. Any aftermarket muffler and it would be deafening. I like a silent a killer... lol.

Your Z06 has a similar setup to mine, but my stock mufflers may be a little quieter than the titanium vette mufflers.

Anyone run Kooks headers and cats with the factory resonator and muffler delete?

Stock now and it'll be a couple of months before I can get everything installed and tuned. I'd like to do the muffler delete for now, but I'm not sure if it'll be too loud or if I'll like the sound once I do the headers/cats.

I'll be doing this exact set-up hopefully this weekend, I'll let you know how it sounds with a video. I also would like to see a picture with 5" tips... Or find some nice 4" tips...
