New pics of my Murdered V.
Finished the front and rear end of my V over the weekend. Did the Upper/Lower grill, Fog/turn lamps, 2" border around headlamps, marker lamps, tail lamps, reverse lamps and 3rd brake light. Next weekend will be doing the wheels and lowering 2". Then the following next few weeks will be installing my headers and cam.
Thanks man! Yeah, I ran out of time this weekend, would have been pushing it to get those done. Will be done next weekend.[/QUO
I feel ya..I went the cheap route on mine...they aren't powdercoated but have held up GREAT...Way better than I expected...I did curb one tho...$20 in dupli-color wheel coating and $10 in satin clear....
Lol, yeah I didn't feel like breaking them down and sending to get powder coated. I have painted wheels in the past and as long as the prep is done right, they will take some abuse.
I steam cleaned them REAL good and then I scuffed with a scotch brite with water and then I used some 800grit and then some 1,000grit.... Wiped down with acetone and went to town....I was only able to get 2 coats the first time b/c that's all the paint that O'Reilly's had in stock. A week later I prepped again, 3 more coats and a couple cans of the satin clear. I've washed them 30 times at least and have had 0 fade or blow off.....IDK if the wheel coating has better adhesion than regular paint, but it's holding up well. SORRY

I mean I don't want anyone to have false security in painting...and I'll be the first to admit it's a cheap *** way out and isn't as strong as powdercoating. But hey for less than $50 in paper, paint and clear it's just a Saturday away and you don't HAVE TO break down your tires`and you can change the color if you like for anothe 40-50 bucks.
