Default Driveshaft Trouble

Hey guys i was wondering if anyone had a stock V driveshaft the would be willing to sell? My center bearing has gotten to the point now where under a load its making a knocking noise, and i dont have the cash right now for a new one. Also does anyone know if the v6 cts driveshaft center bearing is the same because i can find those all over ebay for cheap. thanks.

I had this happen on mine, for me it was the metal shield that was rubbing the DS, just had to bend it back and no more noise.

Joe, did u figure out what your noise was? U describe my problem now too. 5/6th get a dull thud under load unless I really baby the throttle back in. Was told in the transmission section it could be fork pads and something else on the main shaft in the t56.

I hope it's not tranny related. Doesn't sound cheap if that's the case. My driveshaft whines every once in awhile because my carrier bearing is going out. Only happens once every prob 20 times I drive it and once I stop and start again, it's gone. I need to get another stock driveshaft myself when I get a chance unless someone has figured out a way to replace just that carrier bearing.

As for the clunk, no clue! I doubt that plate would cause a clunk like that. If it were hitting, it would do it all the time. I would imagine if ur carrier bearing is completely shot, there is prob enough play there that if the driveshaft isn't completely balanced that it could smack that outer metal loop. I'd imagine under hard acceleration that the driveshaft would get a little more wild than just cruising. I'd also make sure ur bolts are tight in the front rubber connector and on the rear at the diff.

I too get a thump under hard acceleration but only when I first hit the gas or let off while under a hard pull. Kind of like parade clunk but I know it's not the front diff bushing or trans mount cause they have been replaced. It's either got to be my driveshaft or play in the diff.

Sounds like a trans mount. Maybe even motor mounts

Well i replaced my driveshaft a few months ago (bought from onebadcts) and it really helped with my noise. I mean i can def. still hear the thumping noise but no where near as loud as it used to be. I have came to the conclusion that my noise is in the rearend. I say this because while driving 70 i can kinda hear it still but when i lay my back seat down and go 70 its a lot more audible. I dont drive the car much anymore so it dont bother me like it used to. Guess i will just wait for it to break.
