Default Headlight washers...

...do all of the 1st gen V's have them? Mine weren't working (wouldn't extend), looked in the fuse panel and the relay wasn't there. Got the relay, still nothing. Does mine maybe just not have that feature?

Thanks.

I did a search and couldn't locate any common issues. Are there any that I'm just not seeing? Bad motors, etc...?

You will need to turn the headlight on for the washer to work.

there is a chance that they were replaced with the non-washer versions. especially after how bad the top of the headlights can get over time

I looked at a set of smoked headlights for mine....Since they are all spiderwebbed due to age/weather. I sure was glad I paid attention to the fact they were the non-washer type.....Until I saw those I just figured that all CTS headlights had washers.....The ones he had looked almost identical at first glance.

Any vehicle with HIDs is required to have washers.

They are supposed to self adjust too...but I guess Cadillac made up for it by auto leveling the rear suspension.

I didnt even know my car had them until the headlights got dirty and they started automatically going off. You have to hold down the washer button for several seconds before it kicks in.

Pretty sure mine don't work, and haven't as long as I've had the car (a bit over 3 years). I've just never been motivated enough to try to figure it out. I suppose I could check my FSM to see what the troubleshooting guidance says.

I can believe the self-adjust part, but I don't buy the part about HIDs requiring headlight washers. There are an awful lot of cars available with HIDs that I'm positive don't have headlight washers.

It's that way in Europe - I stand corrected - it's not required here in TEH US.

We always have shtty lighting requirements - lackluster (and brightness) compared to our overseas bretheren.

I dont use mine very often but I do know they will not spray if the fluid level is too low. I thought mine stopped working one day. I got the low washer fluid level warning so I refilled a few days later and voila, they worked again.

Also OP make sure all of your plumbing is intact. Someone I know didn't have the windshield squirters for a while. He later found out that the tubing had been disconnected and tucked down in by the battery.

Perhaps someone disconnected them, the headlight washers are known to **** off owners when they cover the car in fluid traveling down the road.

I didn't know about them for awhile. I would notice at night when spraying the windshield that the headlights seemed to dim. I thought it was a bit ridiculous that something that insignificant would put a draw like that on the electrical system enough to dim them while driving. Until one day I finally discovered why...

Lol why we are telling our retart moments....It took me over a year to figure out we had a separate **** for the fog lights! Who knows why I never investigated the matter but one day I was pondering a clear fogs thread and realized I had never saw my fogs on...
