Ideas for refinishing boot trim
I have a used shift boot with the plastic trim that's kinda peeled like the rest of the trim in this heap. I'm looking for some ideas on how to refinish it. Maybe someone else has refinished or touched up theirs.
I work with a lot of dealerships and snagged a freelance interior guy that dyes seats and trim and such and he estimated $70 to refinish the piece to a stock look. I'm just wondering if there are any better methods or looks to go with.

I used testors flat black model paint from a hobby store, which turned out great. I also used it on the radio *****. I can get the color code when I'm at home.
Getting the old stuff off sucks though, it's like a rubberized coating, so it just smears and clogs up the sandpaper. I had to use some of the screen style drywall sanders, then clean up the rough with some finer sandpaper.
