Default Wheel fix info needed..

I was driving to work today and the morons here in Seattle don't fix potholes and I found one. Took a good chunk out of the left side wheels and a very slight bend. Anyone know a good place to get them fixed and I would like to get them powder coated black also. If you know general ballpark prices that would also be great.

Thanks,

Dave

If it were curb rash, I'd tell you to bondo it, sand it, and then plastidip the rims. I've seen some very good outcomes with plasti-dipped rims in terms of appearance. Sorry I've got no more assistance. Just figured I'd give you an alternative to powder coating.

Buy a replacement wheel. By the time you pay to have it repaired you could have just bought a replacement. I paid 150 shipped froma guy on here for one with a tire on it in perfect shape. Wheel repair shop told me 199 to weld a 2 inch hairline crack.

EDIT: just saw you have aftermarket venetos. Id contact the manufacturer and complain, might get you a free wheel. If not id still just buy another one.

Where in Seattle were you driving? I didn't know you were out here!

Couple of options -

http://www.awrswheelrepair.com/seattle/

http://seattlewheel.com/

I've not worked with them directly, but have heard good things from friends who have dealt with them, and have seen Alloy Wheel Repair myself doing wheel work at the Porsche dealership in Bellingham.

(I normally just replace the wheel myself)

Don't have any directional costs, but I imagine every wheel damage is different. It's like getting a crash damage estimate over the phone.

Give them a call up.

It would take a MASSIVE pothole to crack a new wheel. If anything youll get someone who might actually listen to you from the manufacturer, good luck even getting someone from the city on the phone.

Not calling the city...waste of time. They are not cracked just a slight bend on the lip and a small chunk of the lip gone. sucks...

If its a real small bend in the lip, you can try a soft rubber mallet and bang it in. Don't overkill it. Anything substantial, you may not be able to fix on your own.

As for the chipped part of the rim... try the bondo technique.

You can bondo it, sand it down, and repaint it with a matching color. There's plenty of How-Tos on it online.

Most shops'll charge about $150 for repairing a rim... and you can probably get yourself another one at that price if you keep an eye out.

I never landed on a place to get it done. Hoping if I forget about it the damage will go away!
