Default v1 hid or no hid???

Ok heres a dumbass question, how the eff do i tell if my v1 has hid low beams or not without pulling the bumpercover and headlights to get the bulbs out? I'd like to know BEFORE i purchase the bulbs(they need replaced), what it has, and don't want to have to pull the bumper twice (i understand pulling the bumper is the only way to r&r low beam bulbs). Furthermore bc of the projector lens i obviously cant see through it to identify the bulb. There is no delay when turning the low beams on which makes me think they are halogen but the brightness and color temperature seem more like an hid. Everything i read says it could be either or. surely there's a way to find out via the VIN or build code sticker in the trunk... someone please help this stupidity lol any help greatly appreciated.

All V1's should have HID's...you can always call the dealer parts and have them check your VIN.

You are correct, all V's came with HIDs. So unless someone has downgraded to halogen because the headlight was damaged and they didn't want to pay $900+ to replace it, you should have HIDs.

If you need any parts, let me know i have two lights from an 04 where the lenses are toast but the bulbs and ballasts are good.

Look on the headlight. (its near the plastic lens) If you see D1S (its a bit difficult to see), its the HIDs. If you see anything else, its halogen to my knowledge.

Alternatively, spray your wiper fluid and then check to see if the headlight is wet. If it is, its HID. If not, its Halogen.

Mine generally only do the dim flicker at turn-on when it is cold out. Most of the time they light right up.

All V's had HID's. But also, as said, it says "D1S" on the exterior of the light housing. And lastly, you can look at the beam pattern. HID's have an even spread of light throughout. Halogens have a central focused beam that is brighter, and a dimmer even spread of light everywhere else. This is because HID's have about three times as much light to work with, so they can spread it evenly. And this is why putting HID bulbs in a halogen projector beam housing blinds the **** out of people.

I think he is referring to the relative heat of halogen bulbs vs HID's. Halogens get really hot, so the washer liquid evaporates really quickly (assuming the lights have been on).

Only HIDs had the headlight sprayer. The Halogen bulbs say something else in the lens, but they don't say D1S. D1S in the lens is HID bulbs.

Ah, ok. I thought they had the sprayers to sell the car in Europe, so I figured all models would have them. But maybe all the export cars had HIDs?
