And when the stock drive shaft carrier bearing goes, cost wise its a no brainer to look to Drive Shaft Shop for your CTS-V 1 piece shaft.

One of my best moves ever

I was waiting to come up with a solution before I posted, but since the cats out of the bag, I'll do a quick update.

The driveshaft itself clears, its a weight on the driveshaft thats making contact with my UUC shifter. (Which is about .6 longer than stock) There are two weights on my driveshaft, the larger one happens to be directly below the bottom of the shifter. If the weights were reversed it would have cleared. Just my luck.

I've had the bottom of my shifter cleared as much as I could, I'm still playing with the assembly to try to make it sit higher in the car. I'm also going to shim between the tranny and the frame about .100. Hopefully that will give me enough clearance get me back on the road.

I spoke with Frank at the Driveshaft shop and he offered to take the driveshaft back and move the weight. But I think I can make it work. As I said before, very good customer service.

Back to the garage. I'll post again when she's rolling.

Great news and great customer service.

Now I don't even care if I have a problem, but I guess I will check it out before I drop the trans for the clutch swap.

My V is going up on blocks for the month of Feb for some serious mod work.

Anyone interested in a slightly used Monster clutch (stage III) with the light flywheel at a discount, PM me.

She's mobile again:

Turns out my shifter was hanging down in the rear. I added an additional support for it and turned the nylon bushing that surrounds the shifter ball upside down (thank you PISNUOFF) and I got about 3/4 of an inch clearance. The weight that was making contact was no longer an issue.

Driveshaft install was pretty straight forward:

All my vibration is gone all the way up to speeds only achieved in Mexico. Very happy with the product. The car is a pleasure to drive again.

note: Stock drive shaft was about 3 lbs heavier

Very nice. I like it. When I go to the 8.8 I know I'm going to be pleased because they get their driveshafts from the same place.

Which nylon spacer are you referring to ? Is it the two pieces that go around pivot ball ? What is the correct orientation ?

Yes. When the spacer is oriented correctly, the chamfered side is facing upwards. The spacer is slightly off center. If you flip it over it will raise the shifter.

No. It moves the pivot point below the ball center of the shifter. This slightly increase the throw. You only want to do that if you have to.
