Default Top End rebuild

Had a broken ds forward header bolt stuck in the head so I decided to rebuild the top end. Just posting for kicks, and showing what a 100K ls6 looks like. No damage anywhere but if I'm here why not do it right.

New valve springs
New valve seals
New ARP studs for the heads
Cometic triple layer head gaskets
Etc
Some painting and cleaning here and there. Enjoy.

A very familiar sight. I'm in the middle of the same project.

Yeah, I'm so glad I have something else to drive while mine is down. Takes the rush out of trying to do this in a weekend.

Thank you. If you haven't read it yet, take a read through my "pulling heads" thread, there's some good (opinionated) info there.

I've followed the thread for a while, and to be honest it motivated me to get this done. I was going to wait for what we in Florida call winter when it gets down to 65 or so, but your thread go me moving haha.

Edit: Wonderful when your arp's get stolen in transit and you get an empty box from summit.

Just a fuel line, Oil change, coolant flush and tb away from being done. I love seeing the finish line, maybe it's time to build that LS7.

Nice. Mine's still in pieces. I drug my feet with deliberation before I ordered my parts... then made the mistake of ordering from GMPartsdirect. Their processing and shipping is slowwwwww.

Just checked my order status and still says "On Order" with no tracking numbers available.
... I placed my order Monday and today is Saturday.

If I don't get my parts next week I'm going to be a little pissed.

I got lucky and summit, advance and my buddys shop had all the parts I needed. The only thing I'm waiting for is the pressure side fuel line that goes accross the manifold that my impatience broke. Just buttoned everything else up with the exception of coolant.

Done, running smoother than ever. Going to take it easy on her for a bit and let everything settle but so far running like a champ.

Good to hear. I'm still waiting on parts.

Might as well port my heads while I wait.

Thanks man. I was thinking about having the heads ported, but I decided to just throw the stockers back on and keep saving for the ls7 build.

HA, nice. A 427 would be sick in these things.

I'm just gonna use a dremel to knock the castings smooth. From what I hear and have seen in how-to's it's well worth the time spent... and considering I could be waiting longer I'll certainly have plenty of that (time).
