Default Cam ideas

New to the ls game I have a V1 with a magnason sp112, Im wondering what an ideal cam would be for this blower? Also what would be some good flowing heads for this not trying to get crazy power just some good airflow. If this is not enough information on what I plan to do with the car just let me know.

If your gonna do a cam just get a custom spec'd cam. From someone such as Patrick guerra I highly recommend him.

For heads the stock 243 heads you have are already really good. You can get some afr, trickflows, prc heads, or have your stock heads ported but if your on a budget don't bother about swapping heads because what you have is already pretty good. I would worry more about changing your clutch if you still have the stock clutch in there, and changing out the axles if there still stock, and your fuel system if that's still stock.

Need a few more details of what is all been done other than a Maggie 112.

You can let Allan here at Futral Motorsports spec a custom cam for you.

Fill in as much information as possible on the cam sheet below and he can spec a cam for you based on that information.

Heads are overkill for a 112 because it simply cant flow enough air to justify the money. Get a cam speced for your setup from any of the vendors and then address the driveline.

Get a take out LS9 Cam and upgrade your springs, i have seen a few on ebay for cheap. dont know what year you have but the LS6 timing chain needs to be upgraded to a 3bolt.

Alright thanks guys its just a stock 04 ls6 with the maggie 112 with the magnavolt fuel pump amplifier and what ever else comes with the kit. its got a .260 pulley on it. everything else on the car is stock as far as i know. Just picked the car up cheap with, what the previous owner believes to be a "burnt valve". As for fuel upgrades what would should I do. Im not trying to cheap out of doing the little stuff the right way. The clutch will be replaced along with the rear end stuff. I have no idea whats done tuning wise just kinda starting over with what its got. just adding the cam and if the heads are fine maybe getting them p&p. What about going with a bigger sc cone and bigger throttle body? forgot to add full stock exhaust manifolds cats everything

Let hear some more on what you picked up!!! Pics as well. You can go with an LS2 90mm TB but need to get a different snout from Magnuson and the wiring harness. I did the TB upgrade but cant tell you how much power it added as I didnt get a tune and dyno run til after. Been thinking about a new cam as well as my car is set up exactly like yours.

Photobucket is the best way. Sites like this don't have the kinda space to store everyone's pics and when they do they show up too small.

Is that a black chrome grill I see? Car looks good. Fix that screamer up and you'll be happy.

But get rid of those horrible letters on the strut brace.

Ya get ahold of Patrick G and have him spec you a cam out for the Maggie. Go with a pulley too. Also, you might want to upgrade the Magnavolt with Kenne Bell Boost a pump.

"Custom" cam. This setup isn't exactly uncharted territory. Any off the shelf blower cam will work fine.

Yeah Im thinking of just going with the ls9 cam and valve train. Thanks for the input on the kb boost a pump, Ive been wondering what I can do different to get rid of that magnavolt thing. letters have been long gone old pics from when I first got it! But yes black chrome grill and I redid the fogs to be all tinted instead of the half crap thats done. What are common numbers for a simple set up like this?
