Mine got better the more I drove them. Or I got used to the added vibrations.. I am doing a H/C/I install any weekend I get the time so that will be a real test.

A cam doesn't necessarily add a ton of vibration, by itself. If you jumped straight from a stock CTS-V into my car, you'd be able to feel the difference, but it the vibration is so slight that it won't rattle anything in the cup holders or cause a disturbance in a glass of water. There's an enormously wide gamut of mount hardness between the stock mounts (which you can bend in your hands) and solid motor mounts (which basically create a structure borne sound short between the motor and the frame). I, along with everyone else here (as best I can tell), are willing to accept additional vibration. But we all fear the kind of vibration that upsets our ability to comfortably idle and hold a conversation with our girlfriends or wives without the vibration putting in a couple of words edgewise.

What I need to hear on the UMI mounts is a review from someone I trust with a big cam and high acoustic and ride quality standards.

Should be about as thorough of a test as one could ask for.

If he's running the stock cam, then it's not a good test.

Who builds a motor and sticks a baby cam back in it?

Someone who hates the vibrations and headaches of a big cam. I have a forged 408 with a 248/254 cam with a 112LSA, and with these damn UMI mounts it feels like the car is gonna vibrate apart when it dips below 1,000 RPM. When I'm cruising at highway speeds, the vibrations are not noticeable. When I'm idling, my interior panels make some noise, but it's not really killing me, but I could absolutely see why it would frustrate someone.

98cobra had a massive cam in his 408, and he ended up taking it out for something a little smaller, and again, I definitely see why.

07CTS-V/PISNUOFF has a 418 LS3 with a 242/252 (I believe) cam... but it's on stock mounts, and honestly, his car feels almost stock at idle, aside from the exhaust note booming out of the back.

Sometimes I wonder if I should stop here and save up for a 427 instead of saving up for a TVS2300. Then I think, I should stop here and start saving up for a V2. I wish I had an extra $10,000 laying around.

My tuner is recommending a 228/234 cam, .6ish lift on 111 LSA. I was at his shop today for some tweaking on my tune, and there was a customer there with an LS1 F-body that had that cam and damn, that thing was vibrating in the engine bay like a shaken baby. But he had soft mounts. With my UMI mounts, it would be shaking the whole car rather than jumping around in the bay,

However, as my tuner puts it, the weight of the whole car will dampen the vibrations, so that rather than a rumble, the entire car will rock.

Would like to hear more from guys with UMI mounts and lopey cams.
