Now, long time ago, this story ends with mixing oem and halo aftermarket parts together to one lamp, here are the result from this project:

Some words to this action: Put in the brightest COB rings i can get with diffusion disc in front of them, so you canīt see the yellow glue, where the ledīs are fixed on the ring!

Then made a adapter sheet to match the oem D1S light system to the halo bracket into the lights with some spacers etc., a lot of work to do here to get everything matching!

I think, they are the brightest DRLīs like the DRL on newer BMWīs, but caused of my black tinting, they doesnīt look so bright, as they are w/o the black tint and the D1S action was also worthless instead of the 55W HID kit i installed before, bec of brightness from the lights are still the same, so the next action here to get it brighter is still waiting...

Regards,
Ronald

Unsure if they are still available in ebay as I bought them few yrs ago, I can choose between chrome and black inner, can't believe, u can buy the inner separate...

Maybe try another marketplace like Amazon or try Mr.Google to find them w/ chrome inner...

Default What wiring changes are necessary to go LED with Halogen housings?

So it is long since time to replace the V's headlights. I went with Halogen housings off Amazon and then picked out some matching color range LED Hikari bulbs for high, low, fog, and running lights etc.

As I'll be coming from the OEM harness built for HID over to the Halogen style (now LED) headlights should I be expecting to have to pull pins/plugs and rewire the OEM harness? Curious as I assume I;ll still be only working with the one long block connection. Anyone have a DIY on this part of the process? I hunted but didn't see anything on the forums about it.

I believe you should be good to plug and play as long as the bulb connections match the connections inside the housing. The headlight assembly harness should be able to plug into the back of the housing. Worst case you will have to change the connectors of like 4 wires per side for the 2 high beam wires, and 2 low beam wires. I ended up having to do that on mine and it wasn't difficult. Just pick yourself up a splicing/connector/crimp kit and you should be good to go.

It was a long night under the V last night but overall went ok. This is my first time tearing off her beak, it wasn't the most enjoyable thing I've done albeit not that terrible. Everything was plug and play with exception of one of my high beam bulks that is out of spec on diameter and didn't fit the housing. I tried swapping across lights and the single bulb was a problem regardless. Waiting on a replacement, then to tear it all down again. I need some night driving time to see how happy I am with it. Otherwise brightness and beam pattern seemed really nice by comparison to my former setup.

Huh, odd. Glad to hear it was pretty painless for you. Removing that bumper is fun isn't it? I've done it so many times I can have it off in 5 minutes lol.
