I don't doubt it.. They are probably fantastic and can certainly handle any track duty.. but it's tough to spend 1200 when 600 to 800 can get you 8 to 9/10s of the super sport, especially if you are on a budget.

I think in another 6 months to a year I could justify it because the V will not be my daily driver.

I had another dd for about a year. One night, 2am, car is parked, I'm sitting on my couch and hear a big boom...some drunk bitch hit it head on going the wrong way down the street lol. Totaled it... V was on jackstands with no trans or clutch. Fun weekend that was!

Default +1 for Super Sports

I just mounted my second set of Michelin Super Sports last week. The car rides amazing and is very quiet. Grip level is very impressive even on cold evenings. After my first set were bald after 13k miles it was painful to shell out 1200 bucks again but for my baby it's worth it. Expensive? yes. Perform awesome in every way? Yes.

Discount will match a price with shipping included. If TR is cheaper than DTD, they will look at the price plus the $50 shipping costs too. DTD also charges sales tax if you have Discount shops in your state which more than makes up for the $50 shipping.

That hasn't been my experience. I received Tire Rack's prices at Discount Tire Direct with no tax and no shipping. Two for two thus far.

Thats because they don't have locations in CT. On the DTD website it adds sales tax with my zip code. They're not such a good deal for those of us with local stores.

Idk how people are praising these ps2's. After the first 5k miles it is the shittiest tire I've owned. Straight line grip is total crap and I can't keep the rear straight at throttle almost ever. Worst investment I made. After research on a bunch of forums bang for the buck the 555s are a clear winner. Invos and the v12 also are great but are priced 70 more a tire and have their flaws as well. Jello around corners. Do some reading on tire forums and see what I mean.

The Michelin Pilot Super Sports these are by far the best tire I've had on my V! You will not regret them one bit, I've put 98k on my V and had a alot of tires. The Pilot Super Sports are way better than the old Michelin PS2, the BFG get noisy after 5k miles, the Goodyears don't grip & have the worst road noise, the Nitto's never last very long & can get kind of loud after awhile.

The Pilot Super Sports are a little more $$$ but you will definitely get you money's worth and a smile ear to ear. They hook very well, the grip in a corner is hands down the best, there very quite especially since our cars tend to get some bad road noise, ride the smoothest out of all them I mentioned, also the wet weather driving is the best out of all of them by far.

I was able to get almost 16k out of the rears tires, and still going with at least half tread on the front without rotating them because I went staggered with 255/40/18 front and 265/40/18 rears. I was making well over 450 rwhp before I put it under the knife, so I've put them through a lot of abuse, and I won't buy another tire unless it a drag tire to handle it's new power when I'm finally done with my latest surgery of my V

Here's some proof they stick and hook pretty good In the vid I'm running a 443rwhp Procharged Mustang w/ nitto 315 at a local 1/8th street drags on unprepped track!

Another vote for the Hankook Ventus V12's...can't beat the performance for the price. They run nicely on my daily V which is driven pretty hard in all types of weather except snow...

wait...? why are we running a shorter tire in the rear 40? and 45 in the front? they are the same size rims...and this is not a corvette...so will the abs/traction/stability not be affcted by this tire differential?

I assume that the difference is so that a 275 wide tire will fit these cars out back? Thanks.

I don't think you understand what those numbers mean. 245 x 0.45 = 110.25mm. 275 x 0.40 = 110.0mm. Same size.

Read this. Play with this. Learn.

I understand just fine. I realize that with a wider tire the aspect ratio of going down to a 40 is minimal but there is a difference. 1% actually. However since you brought it up and I took the time to think more about it, it would not be enough to throw a code.

There is essentially no difference at all; 1% is not correct. I don't know how you arrived at that number, but if you do the math it comes out to ~0.07% difference. If you look at the manufacturer's specs, the revs/mile is typically the same.

Not even close.
