Think about it. Tires get significantly smaller as they wear and it doesn't throw a code. According to Tire Rack, most new tires have 10/32" or 11/32" tread depth, and 2/32" is legally considered worn out.

On top of that you are counting in absolutes that ALL tires, including the ones that came stock are exactly 245/45/18s.....**** I see the 4x4 guys running 25% taller tires on their trucks with no codes. lol No regearing either. I wouldn't do it, but it's done......

I mistyped above; It should read 275.40.18s, not 45s.

Anyways, I ordered the Continental DWS' this morning and they will be in On Monday.

Late to the party, but I recently through on Hankooks V12's and love them. Quiet as could be and a comfortable ride. Went F245/R275 and the stance is great.

Toyo t1r's are awesome all around tire for mid 400's cars.. They wore great and hooked up until I wore em out to slicks. I still h e the fronts on there but switched to nt05's on the rear and other than wet weather the rear hooks awesome. But tr1's are awesome tires

I ended up going with the michelin pilot sport a/s. It is a very nice tire and so far from what I can tell it grips pretty nicely too!
I've driven in the rain with it and it also seems to do well in wet conditions.

So, I'm in the market for new tires as well. I haven't seen anyone comment on Bridgestone. I has re050s on my x-runner pushing a hare (rabbit) over 400rwhp. They dead hooked second gear on. First gear, at about 4000 rpm, they'd break loose, but only at wot. I'm thinking pole positions. Those tires on the xrunner make these Michelin pilot sports seem awful lacking, and the pole positions oughta be superior. I get dealer price on tires, so I guess price isn't too big of an issue. In the next month or so, I'll be getting them. If I wait any longer ill be riding on air. I'll let you guys know how they do.

I think the Hankooks would be a step backwards in performance compared to the more aggressive T1Rs.

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/...y.jsp?ttid=162 - I would guess it would be about a toss-up in real world driving.

A slightly late response...

15k+ so far on the two sets of rears. The fronts are just over 30k...wow I didn't realize that until now.

Anyway I'm leaning towards another full set of V12's soon but I will do a little research first

Just picked up a set of TOYO Proxes R1R's, 255/35 front 265/35 rear. Anyone have any thoughts on these? Got a great deal so I pulled the trigger and said FTW.

I agree with punishment, nt-05... If you want a nice grippy tire. My V isn't my DD so im not worried bout the rain. Right now im running Nitto 555 they were great under 400hp but spin easy now in 2nd gear. Also wondering if a softer tire will help with wheel hop since the tire is getting better traction...

In my experience the V12 EVOs are a GREAT tire: Didnt keep any cars very long but plan to hold on to the V for a while.

'05 GTO (Heavy Suspension Mods/ Power) - 20,000 miles and very pleased with the ride and grip.
'01 BMW 540 (Daily) - V12s for 10,000 miles and not a complaint.
'04 Mini S (Daily/ AutoX) - V12s for 6,000 with great success on AutoX
'05 V (Daily) - 3,000 Miles and very pleased. Heavy car does well with the tires.
