Default HID fog install HELP

Guys so I froze my *** off here in NNJ doing my new fog lights. I went to install my new HIDs 35w. and they didnt work. My brother then told me they are maybe reverse polarity so I flipped the wires to the ballast and they worked "sort of".. My HIDs in the fogs are not flickering but rather changing color. I tried another brand new pair of ballast and they are both doing the same exact thing. Have any of you had the same issues? What can I do to fix this??

HIDs slowly increase by 200-300K in color temperature color over a space of about 100 hours. It sounds like you're describing something else entirely; can you be a little more descriptive?

Fuzzy, the HIDs are 3000k "yellow". They are going to that bright yellow and then flicker down to a dull yellow, and then back to bright yellow. This goes on the entire time the Fogs are on. I have installed HIDs in many many cars/trucks/bikes/ and ATVs.. This is the first time I have encountered anything like this. I dont know how to explain it any better. lol.. This is just puzzling both my brother and I..

That's bizarre. Assuming that you ran the foglight power lines into the HID ballasts, you did it right on that end.

Bizarre indeed! The HID system is simple, you plug the system into the plugs that fit. I know it isnt rocket science to do this, but I feel like I need a degree in electrical engineering to figure this one out..

They way I look at other guys setups is they are all plug and play, just reverse the harness. Which I did. Now this color changing thing is drivin me nuts..

I had issues where my car would only light one or the other of my HID fogs. Contacted the seller and he said for the Caddy I would need a higher quality ballast than what he sold me, something about a canbus . He refunded my money in full. I have some 55w ddm balasts laying around I'm going to try one of these nights soon. The previous owner put in some nice halogens that actually match the hid's nicely so I'm not rushing. The HID bulbs I have are 3k, should look nice on the snow soon.

I have a master's degree in electrical engineering, and let me tell you, there's nothing it'll tell you off the top of your head.

Do you have a set of different bulbs that you could swap in to try?

Strange, sounds symptomatic of crappy ballasts. I know ballasts will have issues in cold, at least cheap ones will, but sounds like you eliminated that as a possibility.

Are these 3,000K capsules?

If they have a coating on them, then they are likely 4300K capsules with the yellow on them.

As the lamps get warm (~1 or so), they stabilize in the yellow.

But because the coating may not be applied evenly, they may color shift as you walk around the foglight, looking at it from different angles.

The problem I found looks like a lack of power getting to the lights. I know my battery is getting weak, and at 64k on the odometer I might just change my alternator too. It looks like I may have to run a relay to the lights..

I have DDM ones also without issues. I have the 35W ones in 6000K.

are both ballasts sharing a common ground or are they using the stock halogen bulb grounding?

If so, try a different ground. You're getting voltage, which is good. Also, if you're using a relay, check all the connections inside the relay harnesses.

Today I tried 6 different ballasts and 6 different bulbs.. DDM Xenarc and HIDsoulutions. All of them had the same issue. My only option left is to try and do a relay setup. From what I have read nobody with the CTS or the V had to do this.. It baffles me..
